Aizawa is definitely tough but very caring. At first I thought he is demotivating izuku but he saved his life. Izuku was very reckless with his powers till s4, without recovery girl he would have injured himself permanently. Aizawa may look like apathetic guy, but is very Caring and he believes his students (as seen during hero license segment)

@Aserix Sr okay SPOILER When Aizawa was in the second year of U.A, he had two friends. Hisashi Yamada (present mic) and Oboro Shirakumo(loud cloud). They promised to become pro heroes and have their own agency together but, during a mission, shirakumo died and after that, Aizawa and Yamada split up. In the manga it's revealed that Shirakumo had his body stolen by the villains and now he is the villain Kurogiri.
