The Earth Guy - Episode 1 // Animated Pilot

Finally it's here!
After months of hard work, I can finally show you the first episode (or pilot episode)of my original cartoon: The Earth Guy!
An introduction into an animated universe and a very extraordinary school.
Inspired by indie animation on youtube and some of my favorite disney cartoons, I started learning animation (for a large part, by myself) to make my dream of having my own cartoon come true. It was definitely not easy, but now that it's finally finished, I am very happy with the result.
Thank you all so much for supporting my animation! It means a lot to me.
I feel I've really grown as an artist and animator through this project.
I hope you enjoy this episode!
And hopefully, I can make this into a full cartoon series in the future!

Man, this is so charming and cute. I’m not usually one to be able to tolerate a lot of cringe, but this is one of the exceptions that the cringe seems to add on to the charm of this pilot to the effect it’s amazingly cute to watch. Also the designs of the aliens, they’re also very cute and have their special unique charm to them.

Interesting premise. First we had normal kid transfers to a school of animals, normal kid in a school full of monsters, an anime with a guy going to school with animals and animal girls, and now a normal guy going to school with aliens.

It’s rough but it’s charming, and I think that’s the best way I can describe this pilot. Sure it’s not a perfect masterpiece but the intrigue, the character design, the world building, it’s all so cool and honestly pretty inspiring. Hope this goes further then the pilot. I thoroughly enjoyed the pilot, and the characters are wonderfully crafted. I look forward to more episodes and am intrigued by how the diverse cultures and customs of each character will unfold. Imagining Neill struggling to grasp the aliens' customs and making amusing misinterpretations adds an entertaining twist to the storyline.

Found interesting that most of the characters I'd expect to be the bullies or jerks are in fact part of the main crew, no "Losers Club" sort of thing with just the ugly, nerd, unathletic, or outcast kind of characters. Great job!

As a sci-fi/comedy writer (currently working on a massive sci-fi stageplay), I've gotta say - YES! Excellent writing, witty dialogue, loads of references and tropes and trope-subversions, just rolling on like a runnaway .. sci-fi .. thing. Good set-up, and I'm hoping we see more of his Earth buddy and nemesis. Shame to lose them too early. And yes: the overarching trope of usual-team-of-weird-ass-kids-in-highschool is rather tired (especially in Anime!) but I'm hoping you're too trope-aware to fall into the same old wheel-ruts. There are good signs. Stay original!

Tropes and cliches aren't inherently always _bad,_ though, ya know? There's a reason they're called _tropes_ in the first place.

Oh yes, true, true. And every trope is build on the previous one, arcing backwards through the history of humans telling each other stories. Each culture have their own unique variations, of course - but often with remarkable parallels! I can look back through my dozens of books and spot all the places I automatically replicated the tropes I'd absorbed over my early years, and even now I'm "trope-aware" enough to spot myself doing it yet again. And readers/viewers need familiar rails. Trying to avoid them is a pathway to madness, and a likely pathway to failing to engage any audience at all! As I remarked, the creators of this animation do seem VERY trope-aware, and I'm seeing them already lamshading or otherwise subverting the most common. ( I'm an avid reader of TV Tropes: always delighted to learn of more. )

Honestly I got alot of things I could say about this great pilot but the main one on my mind is POTENTIAL. I mean it'd be interesting just to explore the aspects of such a large and diverse cast of characters from unique backgrounds but to make it into a clone high esk setting is just frosting on the cake!

I get some Crash Nebula vibe for the setting, which i adore. The characters are compelling and all unique to look at. The start was slowish, but when the school was the main stage, my attention was there and then some.

There certainly could be some improvements, but this was still an absolute delight to watch. You did well finding VAs that fit the characters and their personalities, there were plenty of silly moments that felt genuine and made me giggle. It's a story idea that you don't see floating around often, and it makes me interested enough to *want* to see more of this universe and how the it works, not to mention seeing how this new friend group ends up developing together. The orientation video was a nice touch as well. A little detail, for sure, but there was something delightful about seeing basically an extraterrestrial version of the 'cringe orientation' videos you hear about so often. The only critique I really have is on the sound mixing; While it's good, especially for something presumably done on your own, I was listening to this through speakers. So there were times where the dialogue was nearly impossible to hear or understand without the subtitles, or it was simply drowned out by the sound effects. Sound mixing isn't an easy thing to perfect, however, and you can still hear improvements in the later parts of the episode. But aside from that, it was good. I enjoyed it, and you did really well! You should be proud of yourself; With time, you'll only grow more. ^^

This is a great pilot because, it introduces our main character and his new found environment instead of a bunch of lore being dumped into the audience at once. My favorite part is watching the green aliens play with the earth objects. Also the school program being called “iguess” made me chuckle. The characters are so distinct from one another and have fun designs. I found it interesting that Neil hates going to his high school and only enjoys life being home streaming but he still wants to save earth anyways. Very cute story that seems like a light-hearted adventure, that doesn’t take itself too seriously and just wants to have fun.

Art is colorfully bright as well as the characters, character designs are impeccable including background characters, the music fits in not out of place, animation is fluid and motivation for the protagonist is amusing. Just came across this in my recommended and OMG it's so cute! Ed's my favorite by a lot so far but I have to compliment all the different character designs! I hope to see a B plot of people trying to figure out what happened to Niel and how to get him back, maybe have him actually like his new home enough to question whether he wants to go back! Also it looked and sounded like he was playing a RTS game? as well as other games. I'd love to see his video gaming skill coming in surprisingly handy thought the series. While I will say it's missing a bit of polish I loved the animation and can't wait to see more

This is a really fun concept. It's funny, relatable, and bursting with potential. I don't know I I can go so far as to say it's "original" given that it's an animated plot-driven show in a highly imaginitive highschool setting full of colorfull eccentric characters... but it defiitely mixes tropes together in a way that I havn't seen before. The character design is epic and gorgeous, my favourite is for the prince guy and I love the humor, it's simple but that's what makes it perfect. I could honestly see this as a full series, I know it's a lot of pressure and work to do one, but I really hope this gets the attention it deserves and that you'll get a right and reliable team that can help you make your dream a reality. This looked great I am so glad to have an encounter with this video! So I will be looking forward to what this series will bring in the future. A word of advice, taking a look at how the geopolitical climate of the 19th century will definitely helped out when it comes to various polities, especially among those that are the superpowers, that existed across the galaxy.

well thats actually a good pilot episode for upcoming new indie animation The Earth Guy . The drawing style is unexpected but it did fits the show . I like the storyline and character design's . Keep the show further away like it can seen by the aliens itself
