I think that, at this historic moment, President Putin's proposal is correct, as Germany fell into disgrace due to the United States and the United Kingdom. However, in the future, I consider it convenient for all humans to have a common second language. English is a simple language. I'm not opposed to the second language being English.
@Dreadnote-pf7of8 сағат бұрын
>English is a simple language Maybe it is simple because we use it that much? And if any other language would be as internationa-integrated then it could be "simple" too? Just a perfect and, well, simple example - "pacific ocean", in this two words letter "c" is repeated three times and all times with different sound. And this is in no way an exception, English is filled with this "you just need to know" moments. Just... just look at "colonel", say it loud and then try to tell me that English is simple. So... yeah, international language is a good thing and if history rolled the dice and decided that this would he English, atleast for now - so be it. And yeah, it has its merits, of I myself would not, well, write this commentary with it. But I am not sure what "pro-s" of English is its own and what - because we are using it right now, in the age of globalisation, for tens of years

Most business is actualy still going on as if nothing did happen... About 65% of all the companies from western nations did never leave Russia and/or stop to do business with Russia. Same story with European nations importing Russian oil and gas... It doesn't go via Nordstream or Ukraine anymore, but we now use Turkye as our transporthub... Same story with the ISS, where Americans, Europeans and Russians still work together as if there has never been a SMO. Just facts that you will not hear in the western mainstream media. It are not companies who are fighting each other, but governments. And the moment a peace agreement will be signed all trade will go on as if nothing ever happened... That's just the way it goes. It has always been like that, and I will always remain like that.... Although I must of course admit that many Russian investors took over the role of some of the western companies that did in fact leave Russia, thus in those sectors there will be less room for western companies to come back.

@Sansen019 сағат бұрын
Because he was told to speak english. Didn’t you read?

Putin is fluent in German. He was posted in Berlin, East Germany as a KGB agent when USSR fell under Gorbachov, an incident that Putin considered as deeply personal tragedy. He actually used to speak with Angela Merkel in German without a translator.
@Yulia-cw2em21 сағат бұрын
Putin lived in Germany for 5 years, he knows German very well, he even recently mentioned his German teacher, with whom he studied in Germany!

May I correct you on one point: Putin was not stationed in Berlin, but from 1985 to 1990 in Dresden, Saxony as a KGB agent.

This is how someone with no intention to colonise behaves. He meets his guest in their language at his home and doesn't demand they learn how to speak Russian. Very well done. I doubt we'll see anything like that from the west.

Respect Pres. Putin!!! Current situation summarized in few words. When you speak foreign language to express your problem, it reflects your dependency, you are not taking decisions for yourselves. Wake up call for Germany and Europe! Everything can be reversed back before it’s too late and we are reaching the tipping point..
