When I realized it's very difficult to defeat Douma without poison effects. Shinobu already give poison but it's to small effect and Douma can make immunity. It's sad and also fate that can't be change. Only for teamworks (3-5 people) with surpass Hashira rank can kill Douma.

Shinobu was already the weakest Hashira. Also Kanao wouldn't have had a lot of character development and, some of the plot wouldn't have worked. Since if Shinobu didn't die she could have saved other characters, that needed to be dead. Shinobu also was planning her death a year before the final battle so in a way she knew that was the only way to defeat Doma and put her older sister at peace. Also Anime's wouldn't be as entertaining if they didn't kill off characters. The point of shows is so you can feel and empathize with the characters like you are there/them. You go through the hardships and cry with them, and smile with them etc.. That is what makes Anime a fun journey. Just like in life everyone will die someday, we must accept it and learn from it!
