The abuser is the evil. The daughter fell in love & only wanted love. Nobody deserves to be taken advantage of & abused. It’s not a choice 😔 Abuse starts slowly, with all little tiny things - by the time you face extreme abuse, your already under the abusers control. When you’re abused, the abuser systematically undermines your own self-esteem and self-efficacy; the victim tends to feel dependent on the abuser, and unable to function on their own. Add trauma bonding to the mix, and it becomes extraordinarily difficult for the victim to leave. Abusive relationships are incredibly difficult & dangerous to leave, especially for women who know they can be easily harmed / killed for trying to escape. It’s really not as simple as just walking away. The manipulation, control & cycle of abuse literally rewrites the way the victims brain works. You don’t think the same, your brain literally doesn’t work the same, it’s reward system is all fucked up. It can take years to recover from this. ^ this is why victims of abuse are more likely to be abused again. You can also develop ‘beaten women syndrome’

It's a mental issue. Getting abused isn't always as cut and dry as it seems. The abuse could start small, subtle, mental. Then after a while the beatings start, but because the progression to that point was "natural" the victim can have a hard time comprehending that they are infact being abused. Or they could be scared to leave. Or a number of factors. Sure it would be amazing if they could just leave. But it isn't that easy. Not everyone is as mental capable as you. Infact majority of abuse cases where the partner doesn't even recognize they are being abused is a female abuser and male victim. Men getting beat by women never gets talked about in media and is literally hushed out of conversations in places like Australia. So how are men suppose to even know what abuse looks like besides the obvious. Men from a very young age are taught to never hit a woman. But... is the same thing taught to young girls? Or is it just taught, don't ever let someone hit you? Idk. Just some food for thought. Domestic abuse is a rough subject and until everyone becomes more open about it, it won't be easy to stop it

Ultimately the ones who paid the price and had to clean up the mess of their kids were the parents with one dying at the end and the other two having to go through all the shit just to protect their daughter. I know that people are going to hate the dad of the delinquent kid but considering that this is Japan and there is lots of ridicule and stigma that affects not just the one being punished but the family and friends around them, the delinquent and his family would be ousted by society and so they would have no place to turn to but the Yakuza, which extended to them a hand and took them in, so I feel a bit sorry for him just a bit though. Well that and he genuinely cared for his son even though his son didn't care back, he still choose to not abandon him and sink together with him in the mud and dirty himself by becoming entangled in the underworld.
