Harihar Fort is one of the iconic forts in Nashik. Surrounding forts, 80-degree steps carved in stones, Main Entrance, View from the top, etc are the main attractions of this fort. There are two base villages of the fort, Harshewadi, and Nirgudpada. Harshewadi route is easy and the distance is little but less. beginners should prefer the Harshewadi route. During monsoon, this fort is very risky to explore but at the same time, the fun gets double because of the greenery.
You can reach here Via Nashik, Igatpuri, or Ghoti.

It was not made by Maratha, but by Yadavas and even Prabalgarh fort was apparently originally constructed by Bahamani Sultanate and so was Kalavantin durg! 🤡

Today ( date 11sept 2021) I visited harihar fort.. It was a thrilling experience.. I started trekking from nasik side village.. It was raining heavily and i completed trek with such bad weather.. all around fog was there.. so i couldn't view top to bottom.. but the journey was once in a lifetime

I am from the US. Last time we went to Dharmsala and did the hike to Triund. That path used to be dirty like this, filled with paper and plastic. An Israeli group of residents have adopted this hike path and do a daily clean up run. They also give each person a bag on the return, you fill it and deposit it in the base camp. I think something like that needs to happen here. A local high school or college? India has so many great interesting places but no organization. But good job guys. We recently did the Grand Canyon Bright Angel trail. My husband and myself are older, 75 and 69. But we continue to hike and love nature.

Harshewadi village is the most easiest and convenient base village where anybody should start their trek. I did this trek on Nov 16, 2020 we parked at Harshewadi village and its hardly 2 hours to the top from there. You took very long route.
