Bro, I think you should also consider Canada as a "nation." A nation is an emotion and a source of identity and culture. Economic benefits are not what every citizen seeks. Maybe economic immigrants from our part of the world think it is better for us to make money. Ultimately, for economic migrants, it is just a money-making frontier. But for the "real" Canadians, it is an issue of their identity. Imagine a white and an Indigenous person coming to Kerala and saying that it would have been beneficial for Kerala to be part of Sri Lanka for easier access to tourism.😂

95% will change their opinion when 1. Tariffs hit and mass layoff happens in the county. 2. Unemployment reaches double digit 3. Real estate collapse resulting houses loosing 50% value . 4. Mortgage defaults , car loan defaults. 5. A weak Canadian dollar , and high inflation . 6. Government services including health care slowly fades due to lack of funding . 7. Large chunk of private investments move to US due to low tax in US. When it happens , people will change opinion and happily join US. If you ask me will it happen ? Yes , chances are high . US is largest trading partner for Canada almost 70% of trade. And Canada can’t sell oil with out pipeline to both oceans . So it will happen at some point.
