The part where the 4 idiots decide to trash the village was so frustrating at first because there's ALWAYS that small group of disatisfied emo's who need to destroy a good and perfectly functioning village in the middle of an apocolypse. You can't pick a street bike back up easily if you spill, you can fit a scooter in a door, and park it in your hallway, can't do that with a street bike. You can even ppick a scooter up and throw it over a fence, or other obstacle, if you have to. And they get a lot further for the same fuel, they are quieter, and actually once you are past 30 MPH the extra speed is only a DANGER, in a wasteland where the streets are not being cleaned.

You probably DON'T want your main means of quick escape crammed into a narrow hallway in a zombie apocalypse, and most scooters are fragile. I wouldn't trust one to do an hour straight of running flat-out while escaping a hoard, let alone keep running after ramping off something. Motorcycles have large spring shock absorbers, usually way overkill for their load but ideal for putting up with landing from 30 feet, and thick steel pipe frames that are more likely to shear at their welds than crumple like the body panels of a scooter.

We sold that for parts and I brought a bigger bike, a 1984 Honda which was at a lifetime younger than the oldest scooter. We carried on to France, and that scrambler, supposedly built stronger, gave us trouble the whole way, I bitterly regretted buying it. Each scooter carried a hundred twenty kilos, up alps and along mountain passes, and we did 12 000 kilometers it took five months. We had ONE mechanical fault we could not fix with the limited tools we had with us. And, admittedly, more flat tires than you might wish for, but we fixed them on the spot with a small tool kit we shared. tl:dr you don't know what you are talking about. *Two of us were motor mechanics, so we had more than normal ability to repair, but so you would learn in the zombie life, or be dead anyway.
