This was really good to watch😮 i enjoy these revenge fantasy manga and mahnwas. This one had great set up, characters, world building and the whole revenge plot actually made sense. Our MC is an anti hero who is out for his own gain but inadvertently ends up helping others while getting his revenge. I like it! I also like how the story emphasizes that being obsessed with revenge is not always good

I kind of hate these delayed gratification revenge stories. They always drag on way too long and in this one the MC continually frets over whether the heroes have 'turned a new leaf'. I can tell you I don't forgive those who have done me harm and it doesn't matter if they suddenly became a saint, I'd get my bloody revenge. It's just a lazy way to pretend the MC is a decent person. You can't be a decent person and seek revenge above all else. Then often the villains they seek revenge on have to be so unspeakably awful so you don't start feeling bad about the MC getting his revenge. I think it would be really satisfying to watch as he gets revenge regardless of them turning a new leaf. If they truly had given a shit they would have retrieved his statue and told the truth at the very least. It's also satisfying when they completely drop their revenge because they become the better person. I didn't like Arifureta but I did like that he moved beyond petty revenge, and simply dropped his worthless shitty classmates and lived his own better life. Say what you will of Redo of Healer but his revenge was powerful, swift and satisfyingly brutal (if disgustingly pervy) as well. Edit: Oh yeah I also don't like any of the attached boobs. The villager boobs is a worthless dense goody-two-shoes, the furry boobs is brain-dead and insipid. I'm sure plenty like getting their underage boobage in every single story but I often find they just weigh down the plot and become an annoying escort side mission that wastes time. I'm sure they'll continue to be dead weight hostages regularly and flirt emptily all the time.

@KKlawm You're probably right about the MC's characteristics, I gave up on this because it seemed like crappy writing. Is the intent that you like when they view revenge to be a waste of their time? So if the MC viewed revenge as a moral dilemma then you don't like that? End of the day I think it's mature to not seek revenge. Even on a father losing a child to someone being able to stop yourself from seeking revenge and recognizing it's wrong would be a difficult and praiseworthy decision. That said, it can be a difficult thing to recognize.

@@Kefka2010 No I like giving up on revenge due to a moral dilemma. My issue is this MC was treated so atrociously that there was no moral dilemma required for his revenge. Instead he seemed to assume the fact his enemies were logically desperate to appease his wrath was somehow turning a new leaf? Other slightly better written revenge stories have the MC go incognito and find out how his revenge target has changed before enacting his plot, but this guy was dense AF and would run up to confront them only to believe any of the BS they spouted. The inconsistency drove me crazy, either go gun-ho and slap them hard with the revenge stick, or hide in the shadows and carefully plot it. My other issue though is often carefully plotted revenge stories drag on and on. And then they usually get derailed handling a bunch of worthless chicks. This story somehow had a gun-ho MC that both dragged out the story, wasted his time babysitting a bunch of boob monsters and constantly fell into traps set up by revenge targets after announcing his intent to get revenge then promptly not doing so. It's kind of hard to exactly pin point why I hate it because it did pretty much everything wrong. I've read a lot of revenge stories and sadly I consider the vast majority pretty badly written.

@KKlawm I gotta agree with you that most manga and anime are just a sea of terrible writing. They're all just overused tropes, women who fall in love with the MC for looking at them and a bunch of edgy MCs appealing to teenagers. Worst of all is most love interests are children and no matter how old the MC is he will have the emotional capabilities of a small child and be incapable of recognizing affection or making a move on someone they like. If you've read one of the 5 story templates out there you've read them all of that type. Someone will just put a new coat of paint on the same story.

Bruh, that decryption skill is *carrying* the MC throughout the Manhua! (Can’t he strategize whenever he’s not in the direct face of danger?) Did you not pay attention to the part where it took him 20 years to decipher the petrification spell? And how it instilled fear in anyone who saw him using it? The skill allowed him to decode the spell in a way that he knew the deepest intricacies of it. Therefore he's able to learn the best version of the spell while simultaneously no longer being affected by it. Layla trained magic, but was so far beneath his ability it was laughable. If you train magic and your aptitude sucks, you're still going to die when faced with a better spell. His "useless skill" allowed him to put his effort into decoding and learning everything about any spell used on him, and thusly how to dispel the effects even after being affected by it. As seen in the fight between him and the elf, he used magic he had decoded as a preventative measure. Meaning the more he decodes, the less he has to rely on getting his head blown off first in order to deal with spells. And after all, the magic being used on him was wielded by "heroes", the elite, and he was able to overcome their life of learning the spells in a matter of days. In other words, the skill is more like a perk or a talent that aids the user at a fundamental level. Meaning it's supposed to be like a bloodline ability that they build all their other abilities on.
