It’s interesting to note that poker faced with zero personality contestants win the Indian Idol shows like Pawandeep Rajan! The guy with an unsmiling face did not inspire or move me emotionally! Music is supposed to make people get up and dance, sing and feel joyous. Anjana is a package deal . Honestly, even if the ‘audience’ shows a lot of favoritism towards a different winner, she’s going to go places on her own merit.

Some people focus more on expression conveyed through voice and care less about their facial expressions. That's ideal for playback singing. In stage shows, both are needed, but the prime importance is definitely for the voice.
