is it really that much better? I have Charge 3 and I want something more bigger(in terms of sound), I am thinking of Dockin D fine vs Anker Motion+.. So I am curious if this relatively same sized speaker can be that much improvement from my Charge 3.
@jcdupuy48094 жыл бұрын
"That much" is a bit oversaid. I loved the charge 3 bass which i find better than the motion+ but the rest of the spectrum was inexistant compared to the motion +. Also the high on the jbl tended to be a little ear piercing. The motion+ has more power, clearer sound, adj eq which males it better. Not that much better but much better 😀😀😀

I actually have the same three speakers in my house. I ordered them and have been testing them for a week. My conclusion before finding your channel was the Motion + is providing me more versatility for the money. Personally the charge three sounded muffled and the charge four will never win my heart with that offset sound from the mono driver. For gods sake JBL at least put it in the middle?! I use a Charge 3 to listen to tunes while I ride my ATV but I need more volume because the wind noise at about 30 kph overpowers the speaker. I need the speaker to be about the same size orsmallervthan the Charge 3 so would you say the Motion+ is much louder than the charge 3?

Alan, you give the most informative and technical reviews I have seen. I have a Charge 3, and have mostly been happy with it all this time (about 4 years. Gosh, how time flies!). Sure, it sounds a bit muffled sometimes, but it's been a perfectly good speaker, that has suited me fine for the most part. I haven't even really felt like I was in the market for a new speaker. But this review (plus a few others I've seen on KZbin) have piqued my curiosity about the Anker, so I finally took the bait, and just got one. It arrived earlier tonight (haven't even taken it out of the box yet. Am looking forward to doing so, though). So I don't NEED it, but I bought one anyway, just because I'm curious! Now I'll have to figure out what to do with my Charge 3! It seems a shame to retire it completely. I guess I'll figure it out.

Hey Alan Ross Reviews - on the topic of the motion+ claiming frequency response up to 40khz... It can go up that high, but only when audio is being streamed at a high enough quality to the speaker... Many smartphones dont stream bluetooth at such a quality, making it only achievable with the correct device, and to actually measure it you need a microphone capable of such high frequency measurments. Thanks for another great video! The depth you go into when reviewing these speakers is great! Keep it up!
@alanrossreviews4 жыл бұрын
Have you measured it or seen it measured? I said it was a silly claim because it rolls off from 12khz so how can it hit 40khz? I am of course talking within a sensible db range. If they are measuring within say 50db then that's a difference matter.

I bought the Flip 4 at first and for how small it is, it is really good! But then it suddenly skipped some seconds and muted them if I turned the volume to a certain point down. I replaced ot with a new one and same thing happened. The customer service from JBL was the worst! They told me that it would be my mistake cause I would use AUX input and they wouldn't be responsible to deliver a functional cable input at all!!! It was really the worst experience I have made with them cause they didn't took theor defect speaker back! Then I was looking for something better and I bought the Soundcore Motion Plus and boom! No problems at all, just everything was perfect! And the Bluetooth dely was way smaller than JBL had. And for me the soundstage and the power is much much better on the Soundcore than JBL Flip 4! Great review. One thing that needs to be clarified. Based on other tests of the Anker speaker, it seems that it "forgets" the eq settings each time you switch it off, no big deal, reset each time, but if using 2 speakers, then .... I assume it's an item that Anker can change via a software upgrade via the app?

Really like your approach!.. your good technical discussion should always be included with comparisons, but seldom is. Measurement equipment and methods are interesting to mention. Like I wonder if you use a calibrated mic. I wonder what the measurement tone was. You did mention pink noise and I guess you did sweeps too. Mono mic apparently, which is understandable, not a complaint really. There did seems to be some sound issues overall with the material, like somewhere it was getting datacompressed because those artifacts could be heard etc. Seems like Anker increased their price looking at it now in Nov 2019.

Maybe it's because I changed the speaker and the anker is my first great equipment that has a higher power and that change is noticeable by my ear.

@@alanrossreviews Apparently there is always a floor noise while listening to music. It's just that it's not distinguishable...my other speakers have it, but on the anker it's a bit more shhh....only at the minimum volume level and being too close to the speaker. I have read that it may be the construction of it. This comes from your tweeter.

A single, larger driver will be able to deliver lower bass than two smaller drivers. You could have 10 of the same smaller driver and it wouldn't make the bass any deeper, just louder.

@@alanrossreviews regarding JBLgoing with a single, larger driver as opposed to two smaller ones.
@alanrossreviews4 жыл бұрын
@@JaysStraightUpReviews yes but you took what is a complicated and multi variable equation and simplified it to just about driver size. Thats forgetting that we are talking about woofers not the sub woofers and the loss of stereo. You are not wrong but overlooked so many other factors not least that we still call these stereo speakers. Of course you also didnt mention the cost savings of a single driver which may well be the reason for a mono woofer. Smaller drivers are faster. however i come back to the original point, the low bass is handled by the passive rads.
@JaysStraightUpReviews4 жыл бұрын
@@alanrossreviews yeah, I understand that. With drivers just a few inches away, you really get no discernable stereo separation. Anyway, just my opinion, but I tend to like the Charge 4 single driver tuning.
@alanrossreviews4 жыл бұрын
@@JaysStraightUpReviews i disagree, its not about a wide image from separated drivers its about the small timing and phase differences your ears model into some sort of image simply because thats how ears work.

Lots of people neglecting the stamina the Charge 4 has. The Charge 4 will last you 6-7 hours on full blast. The Motion Plus lasts 3-4 hours on full blast. I listen to metal and hard rock to give you an idea. If you work in a large warehouse, you'll want the Charge 4. The stereo sound from the Motion Plus is on noticeable if you're close to the speaker itself. The sound difference between the Charge 4 and Motion Plus is incremental at best.

I have the charge 3 I use on the handle bars of a electric bike and with a full helmet riding at 30mph it's not loud enough but I dont want something on my handlebars the size of the xtreme 2.... I'll keep the 3 and buy a Anker later ..il like their products can't kill my soundcore and I still use it because stellar battery life and the small size .. Hey btw what's the real life battery endurance of the motion vs the charge 3 at good volume? Like 3/4 something like that?(little party with beer style lol)I hate speakers with small battery life .. Maybe you said it but I got a short attention span I guess. Keep on trucking man!

Charge 3 beter them charge 4? I love the bass of the charge 3, with the charge 4 I don't feel the bass as in the other two. Anker more bass. But I dont know. All sound of soundcore it's in from of the microphone recorder. And the two JBL have the sound turned to the left and for the right clearly far away of the microphone recorder. That's make many difference. The soundcore without bass evidence the noise of the music, and that doesn't happen with the both JBL, maybe because of the distance between the microphone and the lateral speakers in the case of the JBL speakers, I don't know. They are all nice equipment's.

Now I have Motion + speaker. It is amazing. But ı have an issue :( When I connect it to my computer's usb port and connect with aux cable together at the same time. There is an annoying high rustling sound. But it is gone when connected to wall plug charger. Is there anyone who is experiencing the same issue?
@TaimoorHabib4 жыл бұрын
That's because the components inside your PC produce a lot of electrostatic interference, which is in turn transferred to the speaker, as audible hiss or rustling noise. Combining AUX & USB charging increases the noise. Better to use the wall plug, because it most probably grounds all that interference.
