Loved the black lab 👍, I’ve never worked my dogs in a collar after seeing a mates dog hooked up on a fence , luckily we found it before it had a tragic ending ..Looked a cracking day out 👍👍

yes, well noticed ...Arlo is just starting his picking up career ...very headstrong and powerful young dog..18months, the trailing line is a mental fix to make him more subservient when bringing back pheasants ..otherwise he can muck me about.....the thin line never usually gets caught up and on the one occasion it did Arlo just bit through it. In 25 years working dogs I never have had a dog with so much drive and scenting ability . BUT!...a work in progress and I will keep on top of him to make him a better dog....hopefully his natural enthusiasm will quieten down as he matures. ??😬

watch his hunting 'action' near the end of video...also on Smeaton Keepers Day video..I love to watch dogs hunting using air as well as ground scent..even if they fail to find the intended bird....the bird he was looking for aling the fence ran into the white grass and another dog picked it on this occasion.🙂

Yes, I would never put a dog over barbed wire but it is good to train them to go over fences and gates...also to go THROUGH fence wires sideways with a pheasant just retrieved.👍

Great video as always. Looks good weather considering all the foul stuff we've had.

Brilliant video and no stupid back ground music. The dogs where awesome and I agree, never work a dog wearing a collar, very very dangerous.

Looked like a good day being had by all. Always makes me nervous when I see dogs retrieving when the fences have barbed wire along the top.!!
