I just got to know that you passed away. Rest in peace my friend! It was great to know you! Your humour like the beer as champagne is something I absolutely love. You had a great sense of humour, simplicity and you was also speaking out your mind. Unfortunately I was too busy with other stuff than checking the subscriptions of my BFD main channel and it is just a sign I should not forget about this one. We all aren't immortal - except in the way to stay on KZbin forever until the website will start to delete inactive channels (that not yet happened). Moosie, have a great voyage wherever you are! I just came across this channel after seeing his comment on a NASA satellite video 10 years ago (pretty random right?) and I'm very saddened to hear about his passing. Here's what he commented: "Well done! If people only knew what it really takes. The components that go into a satellite that lives for 20 years untouched in space are NOT off the shelf at Walmart." He seemed like a good person, RIP.

Merry Christmas John... Sucks not having a fridge.
@Anonymoose7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Larry! It turned out pretty fine in spite of the fridge, but it sure was quite an ordeal. I had to buy a small chest freezer to save all of my frozen stuff, and I was REALLY squeezed for space for fresh foods. And to make it more interesting, every once in a while it'd drop below freezing, so I couldn't keep things like lettuce and tomatoes, or much of anything in the way of fresh veggies.. The new fridge was delivered the day after Christmas, so life is becoming more like normal again.
@dagocleo7 жыл бұрын
your "tiny" fridge is bigger than many Swiss ones, lol ! So sad to see that you had to eat corned beef again... I could suffer with you on this one !!! a nice Christmas feast !!!
@Anonymoose7 жыл бұрын
I guess we're spoiled over here. I'm used to having a good stock of fresh veggies and meats, and I buy meats in quantity on sales, and freeze them. I'd go nuts if my real fridge was the size of what I had these past few weeks. I managed to kill the whole corned beef by myself, and typically, when it was gone I wanted more. I might do one for Christmas next year. LOL

@Anonymoose7 жыл бұрын
You might have to ask. The rounds are produced by the same outfit that makes the briskets, and I spotted my first one at my local Publix about 5 years ago. They're so incredibly good I swore right then that I'd never buy another brisket, and I haven't. For the first couple of years, I asked my meat guy at Publix, and he made sure they got some. Now they've become a hot seller here, so they stock in quite a few. Of course, we only get them for St. Patrick's day, so I've made it standard practice to grab half a dozen or so and freeze them. They keep beautifully.

I hope that you have your new refrigerator by now. If not, they should be giving you a good sale price on it.
@Anonymoose7 жыл бұрын
The new one was delivered the day after Christmas, and yes, I got a good sale price on it. That was part of the problem. When the old one went, and I went looking, it was on the last days of an extended Black Friday sale, normally $1600 and on sale for $1000. Then I found out that *because* of Black Friday, they were sold out right back to the factory, and it would take three weeks to get one. So... I camped out for three weeks. And during that three weeks, the frickin' water heater went out. LOL Ho ho ho...
@Perroquet517 жыл бұрын
Oh, good grief! So you can put the $600 you saved towards the purchase of a water heater. Isn't it funny how often blessings and curses travel the same highways?
@Anonymoose7 жыл бұрын
Well, the new water heater was "only" $400, so I might've still been ahead, except I spent another $200 on the chest freezer I had to buy to save all of my frozen foods. There are days when you feel like you're standing in the middle of that highway, waiting to get run over again... :-P

This Floridian is in the same boat as you except my fridge is only cool enough for condiments. Good thing I have a separate freezer now. Waiting on the parts and repairman is a bummer! You're making me hungry.
@Anonymoose7 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... Must be a Florida thing then. I did rush out and buy a chest freezer to save all of my frozen foods, and it was miraculous that the freezer section stayed just cold enough to pretend like it was a fridge. I thought about fixing it, but it was getting old, and the problem would require digging right into the heart of it, and by the time a repairman charged me an arm and both legs to fix it, it'd probably cost more that it was worth. So I gave in and replaced it. The new one was delivered Tuesday, after being back ordered for three weeks. If it really is a Florida thing, then look out. While I was waiting for the new fridge, my water heater croaked. Yours might be next. LOL
