The hymn of Kyiv holds immense significance for many. It has always been associated with happiness and warm memories. Now, those feelings are mixed. Due to the war, the most common way to return home to Kyiv is by train, the path for many refugees. When the train arrives, the song about Kyiv greets us, bringing tears to our eyes and evoking all the memories we've lived here - the joyful, carefree days of childhood, university years, and two years of full-scale war with thousands of rockets targeting innocent people. Despite everything, this song remains a crucial part of our lives, perhaps the most important in all of Ukrainian music.
Creating 'Kyiv' was a deeply personal journey for us. This track reimagines the iconic hymn of our capital, blending the comforting sound of home with the rising tension of our current reality. We aimed to capture the resilience and hope of our nation, balancing between panic and calm, war and peace. Through 'Kyiv,' we want to remind the world that such conflict should not be the norm in the 21st century and to celebrate the unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian people.
