Ann was an extension of Bob Fosse plain and simple. She could bring to life exactly what he had in his mind. Her passing definitely indicated the end of an era. RIP lovely lady.

The one thing that amazes me about this number and this show is that it oozes sexuality and yet it's so subtle and smoldering

She’s 46 in this clip-Still at her peak. She was Such a hard-working talented lady!!

She always could portray what Fosse wanted in his form of dance the VERY BEST! She just had the knack and talent for it I guess. My name is Roxane and all my child hood was called Roxie. Thanks for doing my name justice . LOVE your original and very best version of this musical. !

@sweeney60 The "original" was with: Chita, and Gwen. Gwen had to have surgery and was replaced by none other than Liza. Ann, at the time, was (this is really fuzzy but it WAS the 70's) at the end of her relationship with Fosse.

This was ALREADY on Broadway from April 1975 to August 1977. Anne was Bob Fosse's girlfriend and replaced his ex-wife, Gwen Verdon, as Roxie Hart when Gwen left the show. Later, Bob dumped Anne for some other younger dancer, just as he did to Gwen for Anne (and a few others!). =;-)

I really like Ann & I’m not trying to be rude, but isn’t she a little old to be playing Roxie?

@Robert Lee, Countertenor I have a problem imagining two middle age woman carousing in speakeasies. The storyline leads me to believe that they both in their 20’s (not pushing 50.)
@lhzook3 жыл бұрын
@Robert Lee, Countertenor I think Ginger Rogers age was on the high side but believable.
@stevenl80543 жыл бұрын
Actually both Renee Z and Catherine Z-J are a bit young for their roles, but delightful anyway. Also the speakeasy definitely wasn't a youth venue as such. The demi-monde has always spanned generations.
