after i saw so many RG girls from before to 2012....i think bessonova has unique glamour and perfomance way which no one can copy...and her performance always touch everyone heart inside

As much as I respect Kanayeva... Bessonova deserved to win here. Of course i'm not a judge nor even a gymnast, but she seemed to have performed more consistently. And lets admit, Anna's routines were far more interesting to watch than Kanaeva's. This gymnast deserved so much more, specially from 2005-2009 when she was, for me, just THE BEST. Well at least she had the biggest, strongest, craziest fan club... Also, i don't know if it's just me but seems like Bessonova is the gymnast whose videos have more visualizations on KZbin!

I kind of agree with you but I also don't. The reason kanaeva won was because Anna is more aggressive and her moves don't flow as well. But anyways it's a bit too late to argue about this. What's done is done.

Christina Jaroe I agree that Kanaeva was more fluid, sometimes it looked as if she could fly. And yes, Bessonova had a more aggressive style but that's the kind of gymnasts i like, balls of energy. I often get bored with the ballerina-like gymnasts, which doesn't mean i'm unable to appreciate all kinds of gymnasts... Different tastes... But yeah, it's too late to complain!

Both Anna and Evgenia are amazing. Anna shows power and endurance in her routines. Evgenia shows grace and poise. Both are legends in Rhythmic Gymnastics.

It breaks my heart to see her so disappointed when the score comes up. She's has a magnetism that even Kanaeva--with all her brilliance--doesn't have. Not many athletes can carry off this music, but she does and does it wonderfully. I love the way she walked out onto the floor. She meant business and commanded everyone's attention immediately. I love her.

Well Kanaeva got 9.600 for artistic with all the errors, and Bessonova 9.500 without visible errors.

The artistic section is about connecting with the music and Kanaeva is great at that. Where her score should've been lower because of the errors is execution.

I know nothing about rhythmic Gymnastics but I believe the performance that wow-ed the crowd, entertained its audience, and gave me a feeling of just pure bliss is the one who should have won. After viewing both Anna and Evgenia's performance, Anna clearly should have won. Well good luck 2012 :)

it is amazing how much this girl improved since 2004 at least for me, she looks much more polished not that she wasn't a good gymnast before but now is much more interesting to watch good job

Success isn't always measured in gold :) In ice skating, Michelle Kwan is one of the most beloved skaters of all time and never won a gold medal. That doesn't matter in the end, though, because she's worth more in the minds of spectators than a gold medal. For rhythmic gymnastics, this is the same as Anna Bessonova. Kanaeva may win the gold, but she will never have the same warm reception and enthusiastic crowd as Bessonova!

I love Zhenya's Padam Padam routine! I actually think that the end of Zhenya's routine(the triple backscale pirouette) is just so incredible and amazing that the judges forget about any other mistakes she may have made:) I think Zhenya is a real, classical gymnast.

Let me be clear once and for all, even though I never trully believe the scores that I see on the board due to some corrupt judgements, I still love and still enjoy watching these gymnasts perform...always have. It's a truly amazing and a beautiful sport you know, so there's no chance that I will not watch and experience it live ^.^ I just hope that this time around all the foul judges and the corrupt judging system will be removed and become a thing of the past-although I very much doubt that.

Todos sabemos que Kanaeva es superior a Bessonova hablando tecnicamente, pero en esta final de cinta; Sin duda alguna, el oRO era para Anna... @fortheloveofRG Not for rhythmic gymnastics? Are you kidding? There is nothing wrong with expressing a dark persona in a routine. Not every single gymnasts has to have a back that folds in two. She isn't being full of herself, she is acknowledging the support that the audience is giving her. Whether or not it was her difficulty or not, her presence on the floor is the most memorable of all.

I agree with you eulucil, but the only thing Bess. do in releve are the fouettes and little things more because she doesn't risk her back at all.Thank you for the right name of the position.The lack of releves in the turns is not an exclusive problem of Kana., but from the last trained generations of GR(shame!)Bess. still doing some because she is senior.

last year, I could at least say that Kanaeva deserved her medals based on her performance. She was neck and neck with Bessonova. But at THIS event, no...just no. Kanaeva will only get worse if she gets free rides. Bessonova will always be queen of rhythmic gymnastics. she has something better than a gold medal for vindication, the ability to touch our hearts with her routines! (sorry for sounding cheesy xD)

Kanaeva had 0.1 in artistic more than besso. For me, that means that they were at the same level. I think bessonova's routine was way more creative than kanaeva's. The judges didn't know were to discount score to anna and did it in the artistic.

@nechta86 SHE DESERVED, this is the reality of the fact! In RG medals go around gymnast's neck chosen by the jury to be the winner (also if happen a bad execution), not to the most deserving. For example, in this period, Kanaeva HAS TO WIN, other gymnast like Staniouta and Kondakova and before Bessonova and Zhukova don't win any medals, because the champion is just Evgenia. In Athens 2004 chosen champion was Kabaeva at the expense of Tchachina, it's always the same refrain

my biggest pet peeve about the sport is about how biased and subjective it is, and there's nothing we can do about it. i really wish that anna could've had a more successful end to her career; even though she did get silver and bronze a lot i wish she had gotten more golds that she truly deserved.

Pride goes before a fall they always say ^.^ And as a side note, this video is another example of a corrupt judging system and I'm not saying that Kanaeva is not a great gymnast...she is and so are they others...but in my opinion (so are the opinion of the rest), Anna did way better than Kanaeva in this and the other apparatus. Oh well, there goes the bad judging system again.

Anya is the best at ribbon and rope, while Evgenia is the best at clubs and ball, the non-ropey stuff. Anya rocks at leaps, while Evgenia is unbeatable at pirouettes/pivots. But still these depends on the music and style, sometimes it's just hard to show your talents if the style doesn't allow for that.

@fortheloveofRG Anna used to have a lovely, optimistic expression on her face for years. Have a look at her routines of the Olympics 2004, for instance. So cute. But in years with that unstoppable biased judges’ evaluation how could anyone always preserve amicable expression? ...

I really don't know why the hell they underscore Anya. But Irina Deriugina now is fighting for deserving scores for her gymnasts. Unfortunally the judges are to blind (for money, I think) to see what's rhythmic gymnastic is.
