i never felt more seen in a tv show. i'm half asian/white like maya and i was basically one of the few asian people in school at that age and i felt so fucking ugly just like she did. i acted just like her, bratty and upset at the world and myself (and not to mention, i was also weird as hell and also barely had any friends too). it hurt so bad to watch it but i felt so much relief that im not the only one.

This show was a replica almost of mine and my childhood best friends lives. It brought many tears and moments of bursting out laughter. Every detail is perfect. I had so many of the same clothes and outfits. Thank you for awakening my memories of my sweet childhood ❤

I had that "appliance" thing, too. I was swallowing wrong. My tongue, instead of spreading against the roof of my mouth and spacing out my upper palate, it was straining against the back of my front teeth, pushing them forward. I had to learn from a therapist how to swallow correctly against the top of my mouth. Then, once I had practiced for weeks, they put a spacing bar across the top making everything I just learned impossible.

This was a great interview. Seth was funny and sweet and Anna and maya are just fantastic. They capture a poignant part of my adolescence in such a great way. They’re so funny and relatable and real. I love everything about them and the show. I’m rewatching it now ahead of my 32nd bday next month (makes me wanna cry saying that lol) bc it’s a perfect form of comfort and nostalgia of those pivotal years ❤ so grateful for them. Love to see real people and not contrived overplayed and overpaid fake celebs. True talent and comedy.
