Hair loss is a common side effect of treatment for childhood cancer, but its impact can be significant. Our animation 'Anna loses her hair' tells the story of Anna, Jack and Laura who all lose their hair while having treatment for cancer and helps young children to understand what might happen.
We have developed this resource with input from families and our expert members. The animation is based on our booklet, 'Anna loses her hair', which was originally written by Penelope Hart-Spencer, Play Specialist and Paediatric Support Coordinator at The Christie NHS Trust, Manchester, in collaboration with the CCLG Publications Committee, comprising multiprofessional experts in the field of children’s cancer. You can download or order a free copy of the booklet at cclg.uk/anna. For more expert information about childhood cancer, visit our online information hub at www.cclg.org.uk/infohub.
This story was inspired by a special little girl called Angelica and her lovely family who kindly agreed for it to be shared to help other children and families.
