Rewatched before reading the series and both took wrong turns. The series ending comes off very much like what a man would think a woman would do, (as do many of the mistakes throughout the series that turned off viewers) and the book comes off with this predictable and unrealistic ending, ‘oh of course, it was really *you* all along’. If this show comes back the writers need to take a note from Bridgerton, people WANT the people they have followed to end up getting their happily after ever- together. Knowing when friends gave up watching, the mistakes are easy to pick out. They went wrong by having Sookie throw tantrums - first after getting Bill back from Loretta and next after finding out he lied to her about their first meeting. She knew by then, well and good, that he truly loved her and turning her back on him and acting like a child was completely out of character and out of touch with what any breathing woman would actually do. Choosing ‘herself’ after Eric gets his memory back was something so cliche, and reeked of an attempt by a man to show her as fierce- NO. It just came off as stupid. Lastly, again, is the ending. Throughout the whole series she can’t stand when others decide what is best for her. Bill stands up for her even when she isn’t there and throughout he’s the only one consistently letting HER choose. Then he suddenly decides that she can’t make her own decisions?! Even as is, she could have used any number of arguments to make him try to live, including- ‘how about you get well and if you still want to commit suicide we can talk about it?’ She could have threatened to kill herself for forcing this on her. She could have appealed to his common sense that he was choosing to die because of a fever dream- and again, if he still wanted it after the illness was gone, then they could talk. All of that is just for starters. These are some of the mistakes that turned people off. Viewers wanted to see Bill and Sookie get their happy ending.

Adina Porter is amazing at least in Trublood. I love that show so much and yeah, the casting was so well done. But t0 play the role of Lettie Mae, I was shocked to hear that she was only 7 years older than Rutina, (Tara). The make up, her acting choices, line delivery was just so so good!

There's no way anyone liked that ending. The truth is that they thought it would be “different” for Sookie not to end up with either of the two people involved in the love triangle, and it was different, but different in a terrible way.

I feel like Tara‘s death was BS and our seeds. Death was horrible and she didn’t even get to really mourn him but at the same time it’s like she wasn’t super super upset about it like she was with Bill. Also, the ending was horrible like I definitely didn’t like her not ending up with Eric, I feel like we all need some closure.😂😂

I just finished watching the entire show from season 1 to 7. I had not watched it since it aired. And I remember being somewhat disappointed in the end back then, but now that I saw it for the second time it all made more sense. It had to end the way it did with Bill dying the true death. Of course it is sad when the main characters didn't get to live happily ever after and one of the main charachters dying. I think it is better to end with a bang than keep going and going and going when a show often looses its appeal. You have to end somewhere.

I’ve watched the first five seasons 4-5 times and *just* tonight finished the series. I was beside myself the entire last season desperate to know what happened, and besides being upset about a few main characters’ deaths, and of course screaming the whole last episode, I thought they wrapped it up beautifully! So true to all the characters and of course very gutwrenching. Loved it, would love to see everyone again. Especially Pam!

This is one of my my favourite shows, it was so different for its time compared to anything else that had been made. It was like to rules of movie land came across to tv land. It was graphic but still kept a certain level of realism so you could attach to the characters because they were relatable. I honestly love it through and through, I know it drifted off a little but it did this due to audience demand to change the original storyline, if you read the sookie stackhouse books they are completely different. Lafayette dies early in the books.

In fact, I'm currently rereading the series, and I am at the moment where sookie finds out Quin was a cage fighter, and the vampire queen just attended her trial.

I miss my friends in Bon Temps...it was horrible when the show ended and one couldn't see Sookies husband / partner, although for 7 seasons this was the main red line: finding her true love. I was very disappointed :(

I have rewatched this show hundreds of times. People have friends in the background. This is mine. Alcide dying was devastating, but they had the party and honored him. Tara, it was like she was nothing. She was such a tortured soul, and it just ended, and then I don't think she mentioned. BillI felt okay with it. The actor who played Lala is gone, it wouldn't be the same without him. Of course, I want more, but Anna is right. No one is ever happy with reboots l.

Resolve Alcede???? Spoiler alert- he’s FCKNG DEAD. If that’s not “resolved”, I don’t know what is. 🤷🏼‍♀️Also, justice for my baby Tara. She deserved soooo much better. All these years later and her careless, callous and casually cruel death as an almost afterthought STILL pisses me off to this day. 😡 And last but definitely not least: The Juilliard trained actor Nelsan Ellis as Lafayette was simply a phenom of a performance. It was damn near perfect. His character arc was everything too. But his meticulously crafted, nuanced, full embodiment of the character Lafayette? There aren’t enough adjectives…but I’ll try. 😂Superb. Brilliant. Gut wrenching. Authentic. And ultimately triumphant. But to the very end, his was nothing short of a truly phenomenal performance. Sadly, Nelsan passed away a few years back now. No one else, and I mean NO ONE, could ever fill his shoes in that role. He owned that role. Lafayette IS Nelsan Ellis. And vice versa. If they ever tried to recast that role, any actor they may put in there, would be set up to fail from the start. At no fault of their own. 🤷🏼‍♀️because any time they may appear on the screen it would only serve as a tragic reminder that a brilliant performer and artist’s life was cut way too short.
