A beautiful video. The costumes she wore, even in black and white, seem so much more detailed and elaborate than those made today. Thank you, belenprofe.

Великая русская балерина Анна Павлова. Нежная , хрупкая, такая трогательная, вся воздушная , столько грации в каждом движении. Какое счастье было современникам Анны Павловой видеть её на сцене.

What a beautiful clip. She danced, in her own words, to bring joy into people's lives...and she certainly fulfilled that brief.

There is a video of her performing The Dying Swan on KZbin. "Inspired by swans that she had seen in public parks and Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem "The Dying Swan", Anna Pavlova (who had just become a ballerina at the Mariinsky Theatre) asked Michel Fokine, who had also read the poem, to create a solo ballet for her for a 1905 concert being given by artists from the chorus of the Imperial Mariinsky Opera." ANNA PAVLOVA... THE UNDYING SWAN One of the very few I look up to and who's life gives me strength to walk my path with LOVE and let the others shake their heads because they do not understand the people like She was. As not many do know so much about her and her life... She did also live truly fully and no money in the world could replace the wisdom of path like she had... The Primadonna of all Primadonnas stayed true in her heart and did understand to tresure her private life even when she was in the spotlights daily. The Original rebel of Ballet and The One Who reminds me of the Power Of Love, Power of Will, Grace, Strength to go against all and following the heart no matter what the cost was and who the world would say...

Exquisite--a sublime presentation so well done--and I agree with the comment of sbgardener5. To me, the name Anna Pavlova has always been synonymous with grace and with holding a place in the pantheon of the very best in ballet. Thank you for this video.

Nice tribute, except for some inaccuracy. Pavlova entered the school at age 10, 1891. Petipa resigned in 1903, at age 85. Her teachers were Nicolai and Sergei Legat, Yekaterina Vazem, Pavel Gerdt, and until her death, Enrico Cecchetti.

The photograph of her being taught by Cechetti - amazing to see that.
@casteretpollux4 жыл бұрын
I find Pavlova more modern to my eye than subsequent classical dancers. And her openness to world dance part of that. The shoes she wore look different to the modern shoe, much less blocky, more pointed ? The effect is quite different, almost airborne in an arabesque en pointe.
@OdysseyArts3 жыл бұрын
Yes, Cecchetti was a true Maestro, and hard taskmaster. But he knew of her delicate structure and nerves, and always kept that in mind. He also reminded her to not overdo. Pointe shoes got more blocky as the 'toe box' construction began, and got more and more supportive. Now corps sounds like a herd of cattle during a stampede, because of this change. It also affected training, too.
