Austria's conservatives, social democrats and liberals are formally entering into coalition negotiations to form the next government. This was announced by the leaders of the ÖVP, the SPÖ and the Neos. These three parties had already announced talks last week. After exploratory talks, they now want to start detailed negotiations.
“A broad center alliance can provide the stability that Austria urgently needs now,” said Chancellor and ÖVP leader Karl Nehammer. Many Western democracies, such as Germany and the United States, are facing economic tensions, political radicalization and external threats, the conservative politician said.
