Cool story this was my first horror movie I watched as a kid at the theater. It was me, my dad, and my boy we went to the amc and oddly enough a bunch of kids from our school was there that night for whatever reason. So we bought the tickets and my dad walked us in, we bought food and started heading to the screen room then we faced a Karen built lady at the stand where you show the tickets, she said “you cannot watch this movie unsupervised so I can’t let you through” we sighed and turned around, we didn’t want my dad to watch it with us we wanted to feel all grown lol. So we called my dad and he walked us in, right after we sat down he walked out of the screen room and left the theater, he went home and left us there. So to keep it short the screen room was filled that night, it was a day or two after the movie came out I believe so the hype was real, the screen room full of adults and just us two 13 year olds and everyone was screaming! Lol while all the kids from our school was in the lobby flirting with each other and playing arcade games me and my broski were shtting ourselves watching the movie for hours, then we went home and had to sleep in the huge living room at home and heard noises coming from the basement as our living room stairs led to the front door then the basement, we had a paranoid night to say the least but it was great memories 😝

It's not specifically husbands, it's "those that aren't experiencing it themselves", whether they live in the home or not, but is typically the spouse. In horror movies following a family, typically only one person in a couple experiences supernatural stuff and for whatever reason, it's usually the woman. The plot needs the spouse to not be there (otherwise they'd experience it too), so the writers make up reasons as to why they have to be away from home at the times they want something to happen and then because said spouse weren't there to see anything until the plot needs them to, they're always the ones trying to come up with rational explanations. It's like horror trope nr. 2 in the unwritten horror movie manual, lol. In The Conjuring 2, it was the mother.

@@VelkanAngels in the conjuring 2, the mother realizes pretty fast that there's something off. like 30 minutes in max (even though we're not in england until like 15 minutes in) and there's a good reason for this trope to be a thing. it makes the audience feel more empathetic to the main character, and feel the isolation and frustration that he/she feels when no one believes them. in this film, the woman is a housewife in the 60s so it makes sense for her husband to be away from her alot. it also makes sense for the demon to make his moves while its just her and the baby, to further break her down. and with the husband being a doctor (and still in the era when women could be placed in mental asylums for "female hysteria"), it makes sense for him to be skeptical. so in this case, I think the trope is warranted.

suggestion for you guys to watch! ready or not is an amazing horror/comedy (i know weird combination but works very well) film where the main character finally marries her boyfriend and meets his family (who he has been estranged from for most of his adult life). that night, after the wedding, (as per family tradition) the new arrival to the family, the main character, has to randomnly pick a game that she must play to be welcomed into the family and gets assigned hide and seek. let's just say some shit happens. brief warning though for some slight gore and fake blood.

Just discovered your channel and it’s definitely a fun one. Horror movies are my jam. The perfect genre for a reaction channel. I agree with you Steven about not judging movies as good or bad, but rather if they’re entertaining or not. Boredom is what a viewer doesn’t want. And I’ve seen some stinkers that I absolutely enjoyed because at the end of the day, they entertained in their absurdity. Just couple little fun facts: The Annabelle doll actually exist, it's really placed at glass box at Ed and Lorraine Warren museum, but it looks way more harmlessly. For these movies they designed new look, because the producers and directors wanted a doll, that would look creepy from the very beginning. The apartment where this film was partly filmed, is the same place where some strange things should have happened in connection with Annabelle doll and it is also the same place where Ellen Degeneres had been living for a while, that should by confirmed by herself in one of her videos.

"WHERE IS JOHN?!" He's completing his residency - residents can end up working in excess of over A HUNDRED HOURS a week. They're technically not supposed to exceed 80 now in most states but in practice they often end up working more, and John here is doing it in the '60s, waaaaaay before limits were put in place. When they're able to get an hour or so of sleep, it's often at the hospital. Imo, John being a scatterbrained mess who always says the wrong thing and isn't present for a good 90% of the film is one of the most realistic aspects of it. If you've ever spoken to a resident physician on the rare occasion that you see one outside of a medical setting, they're fuckin GONE, like unconscious on their feet, getting at most two hours of sleep a night for weeks at a time, don't know what month it is, etc.

I know Ed and Lorraine Warren are not in this film. However, they are really cool to research. Hearing about all their exorcisms, the museum and everything I find so interesting. I live in Connecticut and their buried an hour from me. Thinking of going by soon when the kids are at school and leaving some flowers.
