Ukrainian Folk Art Fundamentals 💜 Gouache Easter Egg Pysanka

No better way to master gouache than folk art! In this Easter Egg "pysanka" tutorial I will teach you my all time favorite folk art strokes that I learned in Ukraine. As always, the black and white outline along with a real time version of this tutorial, are available on my Patreon channel. Grab any colors your like and enjoy!

🎨 MATERIALS:
Paper: use any surface you like - no need for expensive 100% cotton! Gouache is opaque and goes on anything.
Paints: Permanent White, Ultramarine Blue and Quinacridone Magenta from ‪@winsornewton‬ The only one I strongly recommend is white - the rest is up to you:)
Brushes: any round synthetic / sable or squirrel will do, we don't need anything fancy for gouache. I will use 1 old sable in size #3 for bigger strokes, and 2 smaller size #2 and size #0 synthetic / squirrel for details.

Absolutely stunning! I also have Gouache paint but have never tried it. I just got back from checking out your site. So many great tutorials. I do not know where to start. I loved the one on brushes. Of course, my heart goes out to what is going on in the Ukraine. I am a retired medical person I would be on the first plane available to go and help, but *alas I am 79 years old* and would probably be more of a hindrance than help. I will find other ways to help from here!

I absolutely love this folk art painting with gouache. You see this same style of folk art painting throughout the Slavic countries of eastern Europe. My last name is Przybysz my husbands family immigrated to the United States at the beginning of WW2. And you see this same type of folk art style painting in Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, etc., and it is beautiful to me.
