That's just part of his character. Ppl are not that black and white. But he is most definitely NOT misunderstood 😅 Many Top chess players have gigantic ego bc it helps you get to the top. If you despise losing you train to lose less and thus became the best. That's how most of them do it. Magnus, Hikaru, Fischer, Kramnik and so on. The amount of chess players that have very strong narcissistic tendencies is staggering but it also makes sense. This makes Fabiano, who doesn't have that at all, even more impressive.

I found it interesting that the top chess players don't say good luck in the beginning of the game. As a pool player we pretty much always say that or something similar as a matter of courtesy. As part of the hand shake or fist bump.

To be a grandmaster in chess, it is not something you learn but something you have to be born with. Because they have a phenomenal memory that remembers dozens of traps and openings and are also able to think quickly and think several moves ahead.

When I see Fabi in videos like this I realize he’s a good dude. It makes me feel bad for him the way that last match went for him against Nepo in the candidates. Winning chances in that game but he couldn’t close the deal. He almost surely would be the next world champion after facing Ding.

the rook to C7 1 second decision was something very impressive! not only blocked the king to pass the column but also prevented the only diagonal white bishop could go to prevent queen promotion! GMs are just out of this world people.

Keeping track of all the different routes of which both you and your opponents pieces can go truly requires a super brain. Put a time limit on it and you siphon out the best from the rest.
