The way you beat bots at any level is just to play solid and wait for them to make a mistake. They are programmed to make mistakes at different rates depending on their rating level.

@@Juznik1389 Then you shouldn't be concerned about beating bots 1000 rating points higher than you! Work on your fundamentals (development, king safety, controlling the center, eliminating one-move blunders, basic tactics, etc.) and you'll get there.

Of all the games you've shown, I think I like this one the most. So many gems to learn from here. For gameplay, I love the way that your mom was happy for the knight to take your rook: I tend to panic when I see that coming or when it happens, but you showed that it's just a part of your plan, nor were you in any way disadvantaged. Watching you both play, I can't put it in words how valuable it is. Inspiring. Thank you : )

Playing against computers is so weird. They have a habit of either making brilliant moves that no human would find, or completely idiotic moves that no human (at that rating) would make.

Every few games or so these bots will often make risky moves or just straight out sacrifice for a pawn or two and lots of potential for it's opponent to go wrong. The Beth Harmon bot did that quite frequently even at "her" highest levels. The Queens would remain on the board, though ,and there'd be much greater piece play than Black had in this game. I remember that happened when Hikaru played her at level 7 and that he was puzzled at he knew her sacrifice was unsound. Funnily enough, however, he blundered and lost but, being Hikaru, he stormed back with a vengeance next game! This is probably the only reason I was also able to beat the Harmon bot at both levels 6 and 7 as I was able to fend off the complications and eventually win due to my material advantages. It still felt good, though, and I'm sure that's what the bot creator intended!

With the aging population, and considering Pia is one of the few chess players in the world to still be competative past the age of 50 (you know what i mean) it would be awesome if Pia came out with a platform for seniors as both tonic and cure against age related diseases as well as lower serotonin levels.

Everyone explained part of the idea, but not all of it I don't know why. So the f6 Knight is pinned to the queen on d8 by the bishop on g5. That means if the knight moves, the bishop can take the queen. And the queen is worth 9 pawns, and the bishop and knight are worth 3 pawns each (pawns are the unit of evaluation chess pieces). So if the f6 Knight captures the bishop in h7, meaning 1...Nxh7, than bishop takes queen 2.Bxd8. And now white is up 6 pawns of material, because it took a bishop(3), but lost a queen(9)(9-3=6). But it's not over yet. Now it's black to move, and to reduce material difference, he takes the knight that captured the queen on d8 with the rook on f8(Rxd8) and reduces the material difference by 3 pawns, which means white is up only 3 pawns of material, which is not that bad as 6. Material advantage is the easiest way to win the game, so if played correctly, white would win the game, having a queen(9) for a knight and a bishop(6).
