Are they wrong and you are right? I loved it from start to the best ever ending for a TV show. For me it was easily an equal to Friends. I loved both shows.

I think it would have lasted five or six seasons like "Reba". I miss this family dynamic on entertainment nowadays... this sitcom in particular was very clever and Ritter pulled the wacky, worried, lovable dad like no one at the time.

I dont know about rest of the U.S. This show, "According to Jim", "Less than Perfect" and "Im with Her" were the perfect quad comedy in early 2000s on prime time one night a week in a great 2 hour block of time.

A few observations: 1. Paul Hennessy had 8 simple rules about his daughters because he remembered how guys like Jack Tripper and Larry Dallas were with other people's daughters. 2. Paul was a great TV dad. 3. James Garner filled in nicely as Grandpa after Ritter passed away. 4. Rory was hilarious. I wish I had 2 older sisters like he did to torment. But he was lucky to have them to help him get girls like hot Megan.

I was reading through the comments, I've never watched "Three's Company" as most people here, this sitcom were my introduction to John Ritter... I started watching "8 Simple Rules" because of Katey Sagal and I kept watching because of John. The guy's comedy is timeless.

Loved it all, everyone's contribution. Always hugely entertaining, something special. Life is never the same when someone dies, but it can still be sweeter - and life goes on...and the series did, as it should. I still like 8SR, R.I.P John Ritter 1948-2003, I even liked the idea when James Garner starred in the show as Jim Egan (Cate's dad and her kid's grandfather) with David Spade as C.J. Barnes (Cate's crazy nephew and her kids weird cousin) [Jim Egan's wacky grandson]. He's a weird actor I agree but all hates aside for him I still like the show even when it got cancelled.

I was able too See a few of the Early Episode's of 8 Simple Rule's, back When. Then John Died & it was Gone apparently or we didn't get it? I Forgot about Katey Sigal being on it, or even Realized who Kaley C. Was then? But it had Great Comedic Chemistry from the Very, Beginning 😌👍👍 and I Adored that about it. John Ritter was A Natural at Comedy unlike so Many Other's, who all had too Work at it. Man I Missed it when He Passed Away & it Seemed too leave a Large Void, for quite Some time afterwards. Too Continue the Series with James Garner, & David Spade was a Good Tribute too Ritter's Legacy & Comedy TV. I think that was Very Much Necessary at that Juncture of Time.
