If anyone wants to sing along with lyrics here ya go: Two am, and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake Can you help me unravel my latest mistake? I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season Yeah, we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes Like they have any right at all to criticize Hypocrites, you're all here for the very same reason 'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable And life's like an hourglass glued to the table No one can find the rewind button, girl So cradle your head in your hands And breathe, just breathe Oh, breathe, just breathe May he turn twenty-one on the base at Fort Bliss Just today he sat down to the flask in his fist Ain't been sober since maybe October of last year Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles Want to hold him, maybe I'll just sing about it 'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable And life's like an hourglass glued to the table No one can find the rewind button, boys So cradle your head in your hands And breathe, just breathe Oh, breathe, just breathe There's a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout 'Cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out And these mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again If you only try turning around Two am, and I'm still awake, writing a song If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer Inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd 'Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud And I know that you'll use them, however you want to But you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable And life's like an hourglass glued to the table No one can find the rewind button now Yeah, sing it if you'll understand And breathe, just breathe Oh, breathe, just breathe Oh, breathe, just breathe Oh, breathe, just breathe

Just wow! I recently had a run of bad health ( capricious youth and heavy drinking caused major damage in my adulthood ) I had to have my wisdom teeth extracted. The physical pain mixed with the alcohol withdrwals ( which are a cruel form of self induced torture ) were causing a large amount of anxiety stopping just short of full blown intense panic attack vibes. As I was sitting getting ready to begin surgery this song comes on the radio in the office, and I was immediately taken back to 2005 and felt a rush of relief course through my veins. I got choked up and teary eyed listening to those words, that melody and her incredible voice as I took her advice and just started breathing and I was comforted instantly and got through the surgery just fine. Now anytime I get too stressed I just hum this chorus to myself and start to mellow out. The power of music is amazing!

Song saved my life. My dad had just died, my house was in foreclosure, and the day before I found my dog laying on the floor lifeless. I had been working with a customer to resolve an issue that was partly her fault and partly ours, and thought we had come to an amicable agreement. After she agreed to the resolution, she tore into my company, and then me personally for taking so long to come up with a resolution that she didn't like. Spoke to my senior rep, then my coach.... With all that had been going on, I was devastated. I almost walked out of the building (not because my coach blamed me for the bad call, just because I couldn't take it anymore), and probably would have wrapped my truck around a tree.... But one of my co-workers came up to me, but her earbuds in my ears, and made me listen to this song.

I listened to this and the sun started breaking through the rain. If that isn't a message, I don't know what is. Just breathe, everything will be ok. Thank you for this beautiful contribution of artwork to the word!

I listen to this to get my mind off of my boyfriend (since he’s not doing a good job on doing his part). Because the song is so soothing, it decreases the chance of my anxiety and stress levels from going up. Whenever I get really scared or nervous about something, my anxiety levels begin to build up, sometimes causing seizures or tears to come into my eyes. This is the song that soothes my mind and keeps me less stressed and more calm and relaxed.

That first verse is hitting especially hard today of all days. My heart goes out to anyone in that situation, especially in states that just recently denied the right to proper care. You deserve better. We all deserve better.

Are you talking about murdering babies by ripping them to shreds with suction or stabbing them in the base of the skull when they pull the infant's head out of the birth canal? How is that proper care? You and your ilk just love death and killing, for selfish reasons.

I listened to this song constantly during my time in the grippy sock hotel the summer before I turned 18. I’m 30 now, and though the memories of that rough patch in my life are still there, I see this song from a more positive perspective. Life and time will always move forward, so if you’re feeling overwhelmed by it all there’s nothing wrong with sitting down and just breathing and taking it all in.

Every time I hear this I can’t help but think of how kind Kyle Chandlers eyes are and the sadness and fright in Meredith’s. I’m not a Greys fan, but that is an absolute amazing heartfelt scene (paired with this song) in TV history. Just breathe….

Two AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake, Can you help me unravel my latest mistake, I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes Like they have any right at all to criticize, hypocrites, You're all here for the very same reason 'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table No one can find the rewind button girl, So cradle your head in you hands And breathe, just breathe, Whoa breathe, just breathe May he turn twenty one on the base at Fort Bliss Just today he sat down to the flask in his fist, Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year. Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while, But my God it's so beautiful when the boy smiles, Wanna hold him, maybe I'll just sing about it. 'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable, And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table. No one can find the rewind button boys, So cradle your head in your hands, And breathe, just breathe, Whoa breathe, just breathe There's a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout But you're just as far in as you'll ever be out These mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again If you only try turning around. Two AM and I'm still awake, writing a song If I get it all down on paper, its no longer Inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd 'Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud And I know that you'll use them, however you want to 'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable, And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table No one can find the rewind button now Sing it if you understand. And breathe, just breathe Whoa breathe, just breathe,

I remember the song like it was yesterday! Why is my absolute favorite! I regret not owning it and having it on my iPod Shuffle. I remember when I was in Boston one year in 2005, and I came almost very close to seeing Anna Nalick and Howie Day perform in concert, because they were performing together that year. That is one year that I will never forget, and I regret not seeing Anna Nalick and Howie Day in concert. What a classic! Also, from hearing that song for the first time in 16 years, it literally almost choked me up.

What an amazing poetically beautiful song! The life-metaphors touch deep chords inside me. Some may say they're too simplistic (an hourglass glued to the table, we're like cars on a cable) but let yourself feel them, let yourself be there in that scene, try to flip over the hourglass, try desperately to turn the wheel and take a different road, and when all fails, you can truly feel the power in the words, moving you inexorably onward. You can deeply feel the despair of your life's time running out, of not being able to change direction no matter how hard you try. That's the power of the song!

This song is such an amazing piece of art. I especially like the part where she strips down the track to nothing but the vocals when she's talking about feeling naked in front of a crowd, it's such a cool audio representation of that feeling.

This song has helped me through so many stages of life from teenage trauma, all the way to mother hood. I always use it to check in and it brings me to tears every time, good ones too, to stop and breathe no mater what is happening in life. Today I am mom to 3 littles and a grateful cancer survivor. Thank you Anna for writing this song-it has truly taught me to " just breathe" and be a better human xo
