@cara6465 ….meeting a survivor you must be emotionally prepared that not everyone is prepared to feel such sorrow and digest the unjust anger such a nightmare of injustice/inhumanity and appear as resilient as this survivor. When I was in middle school, my school brought a survivor to speak to us after learning about the holocaust…he was a child when he lost everything and everyone in his family…his anger towards people and deep dark sorrow that he was still living in was very difficult to digest as a young child/preteen … I think you don’t have to meet a survivor in person in order to understand the gravity, hear their testimony, and honor their story by sharing their story is a way to honor them without knowing them personally. As an adult, I honor his story by teaching about the Holocaust and taking my students to the Holocaust museum in my city, which has many survivors’ videos, but even then, I have to work around my students’ traumas because some of them lost family members in tragic ways (abductions and found deceased in horrible conditions in Latin America), so sometimes the children nor the surviving parent is ready to hear a survivor’s story in person or in video, but I’m glad that my school where I worked let us do a whole unit on the holocaust where we could read different types of texts on the subject at an age appropriate level before we went to the museum, that way everyone had some exposure to such an important event and example of inhumanity and tragedy without going to the museum if they were not ready emotionally to handle watching the videos/testimony.

A Different couple with a SON went into hiding with the Franks. Survivor Otto Frank (who lost his wife and 2 daughters in the concentration camps) met up with survivors Eva and her mother after they were liberated and ended up marrying Eva's mother. @giselestrauch5146 Yes! So glad Anne's father did not have to live the rest of his life alone after so tragically losing his wife and 2 daughters in the concentration camps. The Frank family knew Eva's family BEFORE the war started, and they ended up reuniting after liberation, and Frank indeed ended up marrying Eva's mother.

If you read her memoir Eva's Story, you find that what she says here seems exaggerated by comparison. In her memoir the experience at Auschwitz was not as bad as she says here. In the memoir, she was given a coat for the winter and nobody died in a bunk next to her.
@IsaiahMartinez88
@IsaiahMartinez88 22 күн бұрын
She mentions in her book how women would fall asleep and never wake up, as well as taking about the cramped positions they slept in..meaning that is highly possible. There is literally no way you are trying to downplay the dehumanizing conditions of Auschwitz.

@@IsaiahMartinez88 Please cite a page number. I read the book and I looked for an example of somebody dying in a bunk next to her and did not see it. What she did say was that she became ill with typhus and, because of scary rumors, refused to go to the infirmary until the other women in that barracks (worried for their own well-being) insisted that she go. She went to the infirmary, was treated, and recovered. Normally, visiting the infirmary would prevent dying in one's bunk.

@@noncounterproductive4596 I have the online version so I don’t have a page number. But I believe it was Chapter 14 where she says that women would fall asleep and never wake up because it was so cold plus you know the exhaustion and starvation. At the beginnings of the camp she talks about how there were I believe 4 to a bed.

Does it sit oddly, not right, that she refers to herself as "Anne Frank's Step-Sister" rather than "Otto Frank's Step-Daughter". While technically I suppose she was Anne's step sister, they actually never were in life, and it might not have been that way had Anne lived. The only way that connection would've come to pass would be in the scenario of Anne surviving AND Otto, but not Edith. So it just feels like she should label herself Otto's Step-Daughter, as opposed to Anne's Step-Sister. There's something of a bad-taste of opportunism in this.

Might have missed it, but can't it be that the interviewers refer to her as that? She say otto was his step-father and became a grandfather of her daughters so maybe the interviewers said that for views but not her (?) Sorry if I missed a part where she reffered herself as that

I'm sure life in very expensive Vienna was fabulous until some poor people started to question the means to the riches... what do you think Eva? My you look like you survived extremely well after all, Eva. So many gay men have guilt trauma for surviving the gay genocide... what about you Eva? No guilt at all? Well lucky you! Ummm HEBREW??? Please read the memorial atleast. She mentions the Russians who helped here quite frequently. And how they helped her. She herself had “gay” tendencies as a child (mentioned in her memorial). I’m sure she went through enough watching her family, friends, and fellow Jews be dehumanized and murdered just for being Jewish. And what’s happening with Israel and Palestine does not even compare to the Holocaust. If you would like to argue on that issue I am happy to, since you seem to be ignorant of what is really happening.@@virtualworlddisorderrealit1848
