I once had the privilege of sitting across the table from Anthony Hopkins. I did not recognize him until he introduced himself. When he stood up he seemed to grow 12 inches taller than me and I am six feet tall. "Tony" (his preferred name) seemed like a really nice fellow. He is very charismatic. What I've always enjoyed about his acting is his non-acting. He simply plays himself in most pictures (there are obvious exceptions). He seems to have been born to play the roles he is given.

My attention span is too short for movies, these days. I've been in the middle of episode 3 in 'Rings of Power' for 5 weeks now. Unless Anne Hathaway is playing Selina Kyle, I just can't take time away from video games. BUT. She does the best interviews. And when she's not in 'manic,' hypnotic interview mode, she's touching all these memories that movie goers have from watching movies. Anthony Hopkins, I haven't seen, since 'Silence of the Lambs.' But. When she was saying he's this 'illuminated soul,' I was reminded of my favorite scene in 'A Bridge too Far.' Hopkins' character is captured with his 'unit,' as a failed component of 'Operation Market Garden,' which was a plan by General Montgomery to end World War 2 by Christmas, and he's a prisoner of war, and the Maximillian Schell character, who is a German General, walks up to him, with his interpreter, and offers him a British chocolate bar, that the Nazis intercepted, the day before, from the British. It's just what you imagine the coolest soldiers/officers in a real war might be like. When I get a chance, I just go right to the scene. Anyway. Actors are kinda strange, when you have NO idea how they do what they do, but you're OK enough with art to see when they do some pretty interesting, far out there stuff. Looks like an interesting movie.

I was at a Vons in Santa Monica standing at the deli counter and this tall brunette walks up. I thought I recognized her because of her big features but she had no makeup on so I couldn't be sure. She ordered several pieces of fried chicken. A day later paparazzi ran a story on Anne H coming out of the store. The chicken is normally pretty good but unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to tell her that someone had just returned some before she came in because it had been sitting too long. I hope she was able to enjoy it.

And then I realize how so many of the people posting things aren't. And don't run into a random star at Ralph's or Whole Foods (or Vons). It's a nice reminder of how lucky we are!
