does anyone else get 11th Doctor from Doctor Who vibes? btw fantastic show! a must watch! Also, for anyone who's read the published diaries: is the tone similar to the tv show? cos I've heard that their relationship isn't portrayed as love-based as it is in the tv show

They where in love in the real word too i think and had that sort of silent marriage in the church as well, but since their both where powerful womans and landlords, company owners, etc i think there was also a lot of formalitys, and her original books are of course portraying a real life and not so much drama or intrigues, it's mainly about things like the coalmine factory, development of new tecnology in the factory (wich i presonaly find highly interesting and tells a lot of the in my opinion briliant person), solutions of economical strategies, etc. But there are some love dramas too but it's spread ower the actual time in the books. (i wish i could read the originals as they are one day, i realy want to know them as she actualy wrote them)

I think the tone is similar. There are many things in the TV series that are straight from the diaries, such as the humorous scene when Mrs. Priestley walks in on them while they are kissing. The diaries do have a lot of documentation of ordinary day to day activities and routines. Her personality and wit and how she maneuvers and interacts with people in the town is all there in the diaries.
