In 41 years.......nothing has changed. Great song. Anne is an incredible singer. Thanks Angela for taking this request!

Anne Murray is one of Canada’s top 5 musical treasures. She officially retired a few years ago. Check out her daughter’s music. Her daughter has a voice where you can hear both Ann’s voice quality and influence. Her name is Dawn Langstroth.

I first heard Anne singing SNOWBIRD when I was probably 11 years old, and I've been a fan ever since. Great singer, classy lady!

I feel your pain Angela. I cried to this song back in the '80's, but with the news we have today, it's even more poignant! I'm sorry times aren't easier for young people today. : (

Media both feeds off of and fuels "bad news". The song is simultaneously a time capsule and today's top story.

This song was made 42 years ago - the same problems we have today were the problems we have had for more years than I can count. This song should be played on every radio station today. This song made history back then. Glad to see how much the song moved you.

You should hear, " Can I have this dance?" Or " Snowbird".

My dear Angela your commentary touched me so 😢❤ as far as the song is concerned I can't believe I forgot this gem but that being said interestingly enough all the lyrics came back to me at once.

Anne Murray, touted as a country singer but really an all around great singer, was from Nova Scotia Canada, right above Maine.. One of the most recognizable voices from about 1970 on. One of my favorites is her later work, Time Don't Run Out on Me. Haven't heard this one in years. In the song, she mentions Bryant Gumbel, [probably the first African American to ever do so, for years] who was the Co Host of the Today Show on NBC at the time. I'm not sorry you cried....I think we should all be crying, and then get together and do something about. There are too many loose screws in charge of our country anyway, neither one of these old men running for President should be, on belongs in the home, and the other belongs in the mental home lol.

Another great Canadian artist...I particularly enjoyed the rasp in her voice for this song helping to emphasize the frustration felt about the state of the world.

Simply one of the big talents of her time. I confess, I'm not a big fan of her music, but she had an honesty and purity in her voice that is hard to ignore. As a bonus, she was a genuinely honest and genuine person.

This song always hits me, but your reaction hits even harder. Sorry for the world you’re growing up in. It’s tough for us older folks, too - having seen a much better world in our youth and knowing it’s possible, but gone…

Hi Angela 😊 Terrific reaction to Anne Murray's A Little Good News😊👍 First of all, we always have a little good news when we come to your channel 😊 When we go out we do have to be aware of our surroundings because, yes, there are people with screws loose. I'm listening to your reaction on Sunday July 14th. Yesterday people gathered in Butler Pennsylvania for Donald Trump rally. They went there to have a good time and then shots running out. Donald Trump was shot in the ear, one person died and another one was injured. People noticed the shooter crawling up on the roof but the security ignored them. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and expressing your feelings about the world today. Only hope I believe in is in the words of our Lord..."I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33 Anne Murray is a treasure and every song that she has song is wonderful. She comes from Canada and was among the singer-songwriters of that time so she does talk about current events in her songs. Yes, Ann's voice and tone is very similar to Karen Carpenter's 😊 Deep tones and beautiful😊 Have a great day and bye for now 😊👍

This song was then, and still is my favorite Anne Murray song. It is very unique because she mentions the actual name (Bryant Gumbel) of an actual News anchor that co-hosted NBC's "Today" in the mornings at the time. In 1983 there was heavy fighting in Lebanon involving Israel, the Lebanese Army and several different factions and Terrorist groups. The US was part of a peacekeeping Multinational Force in Lebanon set up in Beirut where most of the fighting was taking place to help keep everyone from fighting eachother. This song was released in September of 1983 and ironically, one month later, on October 24th a suicide bomber detonated a truck bomb at Marine barrecks that killed over 240 Marines, sailors and soldiers. About 10 minutes after the Marine barrecks was hit, another suicide bomber struck a French barrecks nearby killing 58 French paratroopers. This major suiside attack drew a lot of attention. I myself was taping the nightly news every night with my VCR and still have news coverage from that period on VHS tapes. This song, "A Little Good News" topped Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart for the week of December 3rd 1983. In my opinion, as this song was on the charts on that trajic day in Lebanon in October of 1983, this verse, "I rolled out this morning, the kids had the morning news show on Bryant Gumbel was talking 'bout the fighting in Lebanon", became as real and profetic as any verse in any song can get. This song moved up the charts as the news in Lebonon got worse and worse. We all watched the bad news then as we do today with the same region of the world being close to engulfing us all in another World War. Anne was right over 40 years ago when she said, "We sure could use a little good news today".

Check out "Snowbird" and "Can I have this Dance." I saw her in concert in the 1980s. She has such a beautiful voice. I understand your fear, Angela. We live in such a dangerous world right now. That's why it's so important to vote in November to bring positive changes to our country. I'm almost 70 years old and I've never seen crime this bad in the USA. I was a teenager in the 70s and we had such a carefree safe life. I feel bad for young people today having to deal with everything that is going on. But I have faith it will get better.

I'm responding to what you said at the end! If we don't get our act together, our dumb asses are going to witness the end of everything! We all have to collectively change our downward spiral course, or it's lights out! We are all connected, and every action taken effects everyone whether you believe it or not! I hope we are able to save ourselves! Bye Angela and all you empathetic souls! Goodbye, be kind, be safe and take care! One last thing I have to add! We can't just be bystanders watching on the sidelines! As I said, we have to take action to make a difference for everyone! Just because we might be ok, doesn't mean we shouldn't care about the plight of others! I sure do hope we have a happy ending! Goodbye again!

It’s ironic I actually overheard a new station today and I don’t listen to any news, just read one news article a day that gives me facts, no opinions, but as I heard the news cast, I thought what happened to just news, not politics all the time, seriously there’s a lot more going on in the world than opinions of Biden and Trump
