hi from Mexico! Great run down on how to get vids recommended! at 05:20, yes very true about subs, and the quality of them. If you're subs don't care about your videos, it actually is a channel stopper!, as YT thinks that even the subs don't like the vids and it all works negatively in the end! We have vids that have high click thrus of 60%+ and retention rates of near 100%, and they aren't picked up by the algorithm. YT is sometimes difficult to figure out.

I think changing your niche at any point takes time. Because KZbin has to learn what your new content is about, who fits the new audience you're trying to attract. So you definitely have to wait a while, upload a bunch of videos and be patient x

Thanks Annie. I agree with you. I noticed that one of my videos had a retention rate of over 5 minutes and it got pushed out, which explains why it is getting more views. I also like your term "quality subscriber". There is no point having subscribers to inflate your number and no one watches your videos. However, when you start as a youtuber, your first subscribers are those who try to encourage you to get over the first 100 but they may not be interested in your content. So we have to be aware of that.

As of what your viewers expect: If you only do what people expect, you will not really pioneer anything, in terms of content. Although you are clearly not up for that kind of thing, because your channel seems to be about analytical insight into what KZbin algorithm does. Incredible, I have one video on my channel that I have published in last May that is now over 6 k now, and it's the only one that is so pushed, I couldn't figure out the reason why... Also, accumulating a catalogue of 100's+ videos on ur channel will allow for more traction as there are more videos that are able to be searched for, suggested/recommended, and simply browsed. At a certain point, say 100 videos, even 2 views a day per video would net +200 and +1.4k views a week. Now imagine 200, 300 vids. All of your videos work with each other to promote yourself at that point. This is why good SEO is important, u can really rack up views over time. Just need to get your best content out there :) 🖤🖤
