Nocturne Annette was great. Honestly, those complaining about the race change while pretending their outrage is all about "accuracy" are kinda proving their racism in the process because there really WAS no character before Nocturne. The original Annette was nothing more than a trophy for Richter to rescue, devoid of personality, motivation or backstory. Love her or hate her Nocturne Annette is an actual character outside of being a love interest. When people claim they're not racist but just angry that they changed Annette from her previous form it just seems incredibly transparent to me. They'd prefer a nothing character over one with stuff going on as long as they're white. Maybe I'm just a pissy SJW or whatever but it seems hard to interpret the situation in any other way. Some changes from the source material are very much for the better.

I just began watching season 4. I know nothing about Annette. Seeing the multi ethnic village attacked and saved by Alucard was a complete turn off. It's the 15th century in Wallachia. Not the USA in the 21th century. Please. It's blatant that the race swap is just to convey the woke ideology, who in their right mind would do this ? Plus, they don't need to do it to make compelling characters of course. Can't They just CREATE and not CHANGE compelling characters ? And I never played the games too. I know Isaac was race swapped. First Castlevania was more like the RPGs where the characters are on a slow climb on their way to the boss, they keep their distances, collecting allies and equipment until they have everything they need, then face the boss. Nocturne is more like repeatedly going into high level boss encounters, barely scraping by and losing half your party on the way, before a high level character shows up to help them regroup and level up.

There was more then just speaker magicians. Maria summons creatures based on the 4 Chinese constellations ( West: White Tiger, North: Black Tortoise, South: Vermillion Bird, and East: Azure Dragon even though we have yet to see that one) and they are based on her same powers in the game. Annette's powers are from the African god Ogun( The Giver of Iron), and very rooted in Haitian beliefs ( Able to summon Papa Legba for extra boost in power).

Apparently the Celts believed that the world's had other dimensions and by making friends of those beings in the other world she's given some power. Her mother was descended of an Orecian / African Deity of Wisdom and Divination and Her Father from One of Earth, and Metal. But due to the Transatlantic slave trade separating them from the root of their culture Annette had to Learn a more modern arts of Magic such as Voodoo, Santeria, Hundun to reconnect with her latent abilities.
