Annette Funicello was just so beautiful. And she always remained true to herself, a decent, kind, and sweet natured human being. My Mother introduced me and my sisters to Annette thru reruns of the Mickey Mouse Club series, and her serial "Annette" was my favorite😊

I was fortunate to see The Pieta when my father and mother took us there. It was moving even for an 8 year old. Nice to hear about the origin of the cement impression.

This was her first husband. She wanted to stay home and be a mother and wife but he liked the show business end. They parted ways then she married a man who worshipped her and took care of her until the very end. Incredible man.

@@mountaingirl1797 Yes, Jack Gilardi was her first husband who was very abusive to her. Her second husband, Glen Holt, was totally devoted to Annette and cared for her until she died.

perservation enthusiast, you must be a millennial. you need a crash course on the 1950's lifestyles and tv. annette funicello was a star made by walt disney back in the 1950's. annette was on the mickey mouse club tv show 1955-1959. my mother would park me in front of our tv when mickey mouse club came on. that was 30 mins i didn't sneak off or get in trouble.annette made all the little boys hearts throb back when.

@@roadmaster720 Oh you mean like Miley Cyrus and Hillary Duff kind of thing. I don't think Annette is that much of a hottie. Her eyebrows are kind of ridiculous and painted on much too high like a cartoon. I'm surprised the boys went for her, but I guess it was hype, publicity, and force feeding, much like the stars of today.

Ahhhhhh Anette. She was my first love and first crush. I was probably 6 yrs old. I had her picture on the wall by my bed so when I woke up I could see her. Love struck when I saw her in Babes in TOYLAND.

I was nine at the time. My parents thought I was too young to go, so they left me home in NJ and took my older sisters instead! I've always been sorry to have missed this!

I marched in our Wisconsin Day Honors marching band as a high-school Jr. through the 64' New York World's Fair. The grounds were literally packed shoulder to shoulder. The crowd thought we were the University of Wisconsin band because we were good and the big red "W" on our uniforms. Memories.........

I had great times at the NY Worlds Fair. I stood on a big line just to see Michaelangelos " La Pieta." Interesting to see Annette , Frankie. And Buddy & Harvey having a nice time there. I was only about 15 when the fair was going on. Glad I didn't live too far away. It lasted about two years. I think it was closed in the cold months, if my memory serves me correctly.

Annette didn't marry Jack until January 9, 1965 {Charles Schulz noted that in his "Peanuts" strip of the day, as Linus reads a newspaper story about the event and wails, "ANNETTE FUNICELLO HAS GROWN UP!"}.

I was just married. I worked for American Airlines, so we took a trip to Rome for our honeymoon.(no charge other than the taxes) We missed seeing the real The Pieta which was at the Word’s Fair behind glass, but in Rome, Italy, we could have walked right up to !
