This was a wonderful approach to this subject. I really appreciate color theory videos and have watched a variety videos on the subject. You're the first person that I've watched that addressed the fact that shimmers to shimmers color theory matters but not shimmer to matte. Brilliant! I'm going to go hunt your other video on color theory. Not sure if it is one that I've watched before. I think the Douce is a great second palette to do (no, I don't know how to say it for sure 😎).

I love using complimentary shades together (like pink and green for example) but I don't blend them together. What I do is I'll either play with neutral shadows (as in something in your skin's shade) and negative space where I blend the shades into the shade that matches your skin and 'leave the connecting part open' or I use a shade that lies between the complimentary shades on the colour wheel and blend the complimentary colours with that shade (e.g. I'll use yellow in between pink and green to connect and blend the two shades)

Girl you are seriously blowing these other so called gurus out of the water. My only complaint is the videos are too short but that’s just me. This has been the most informative video I've watched about color theory and how to work with colors. I really wish this videos would get more views. Why couldn't people watch these kinds of informative stuff instead of just watching "what's new in makeup" all the time? Influencers, and people who follow them, talk about "blending" (which I think is so overused) and "highly pigmented" (again, so overused), that even I who rarely use makeup (but just highly enjoy them) know that makeup (in this case, eyeshadow) are made differently and consequently, should be dealt with differently. Like, they could be in one eyeshadow palette but since they are made differently, they should be used and treated differently to make it work. One technique does not work for everything. Knowing your makeup tools is very important, too. One thing I've learned from years of watching makeup videos on YT is that, it's not enough to just like using makeup, like, you may have made makeup videos for years and years and still do not know how to properly use them. Knowhow and s little common sense perhaps? I mean, you could do your research, too, sometimes. Especially if you're making YT your full time job. I see a lot of influencers like this. I see a lot who diss this and that palette for being a dud but in reality, it's them that's a dud.

I agree with the brown not belonging there, I don't want to say I hate it, but I kinda do... I would have loved a shimmery white duochrome kinda shade instead - and the palette would have been complete for me! The green shimmer shade is probably my favourite eyeshadow ever!!!

I *rarely* "Like" videos but this video truly deserves a thumbs up!!! These are the kind of videos that actually educates the viewer instead of selling them things. That's what KZbin was initially meant for but now it's one big narcissistic sales machine. I have this palette and as I was working with it I was marveling at what a wonderful color theory teaching tool it could be! This is the palette that can really help someone understand and experiment with color theory. It is just 9 colors but the color combos and shade possibilities are nearly endless!!! Thank you for making this video for those new to makeup artistry, once they grasp this concept they will be way ahead of the game.

I'm so happy to finally hear someone else say that eye looks tend to pop more when each color gets its own space. YESSSSSSS! I've always thought this, but you put it into words so perfectly. What fun is a colorful look if you over-blend it and end up with dull, muddy eyeshadow? By the way, the Zulu palette has been on my wishlist for over a year, and this video just inspired me to finally buy it! :-)

Hi, so I really enjoy all your videos, even the fast ones; however, your slower videos are the ones I like the best. I also wanted to say thank you for this video. I'm sure you have done this one before, but because of the colors you used, I was able to use pink, purple, coral, & a tan colored eye shadow to match my skirt and top that I was wearing today. It definitely wasn't perfect and I need to get better at it and find the right brushes to use, but I was able to do it and that's because of you, so thank you. The negative side, is that watching you and others use this palette, I really wanted it and the more videos I watched, the harder it became to resist. And then Juvia's Place last night had such a good deal, I couldn't help myself. BUT THAT'S IT!! I can't stand this. I almost bought the Masquerade one, but I held myself in check.

I can understand that. It's my favorite palette for a pink look and that purple is stunning mixed in. I depotted it, destroyed the majority of the mattes and then repurchased it a couple months later because I missed it so much. I nearly threw out the shade tart afterwards when I went through my singles because that shade of pink looks horrible against my skin, but I ended up saving it because I decided to play with it at the last minute and found that it layers beautifully over matte purples and blues. < that might make this palette more fun for you if you combine it with another palette.

Thank you, it was really helpful ! And this look is really pretty, I find it really cohesive, I love how you placed each colors. The Douce could be very helpful too, I love the color story but I find myself always doing the same "safe" look.
@AnnettesMakeupCorner6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'll totally pull out the Douce palette next. I find it very uninspiring, but thats also why I wanna play with it to force myself to come up with something fun and unique lol

Oh my goodness! Thank you for this video! I haven't heard about color theory yet. I maybe did in art class but I don't remember lol! Thank you for teaching us beginners on this! God bless you! And yes I watched the whole entire video ❣️❣️❣️❣️💖💖💖💖

Now you damn well know that I am loving this look.. I have very hooded eyes even more now that im nearly 39. so If Im seeing this correctly, you create your crease way up nearly to your brows.. thats where you placed the "red, pink, yellow" line.. is that right? I would love to see a mini series of how to work with different products on hooded eyes. between my hooded eyes and my glasses, i dont know why i bother at all.. but this look is fire.. I would love to create something like this even if its just for a picture..
@AnnettesMakeupCorner6 жыл бұрын
Yes, pull the shadow higher up than you think you should. I'll try to get around to filming a how to for hooded eyes at some point, I just have a lot of stuffed planned right now lol.

I rly enjoy these types of videos from u! I liked ur other videos on how to use color! I just gotta put this out there for anyone that ever complains about that “one brown shade” in the Zulu palette. Juvia’s Place is a Black owned brand & they created that shade as a “transition shade” for deeper skin toned beauties.☺️💛 Makes sense now right?👍✌️
@AnnettesMakeupCorner6 жыл бұрын
But even if a darker skin person uses it as a transition shade, there are no shades to deepen it up with or whatever. I still just dont think its a needed shade lol 😂. I'm just bitter cause it coulda been a beautiful dark blue matte or something lmao

I feel like a really easy way to do a colorful look is to do a 2 toned crease. I feel like that tends to prevent a muddy look.

I honestly didn’t even think of the color wheel as a way to balance makeup! I’m trying to get away from nude colors and dipping toes into vibrant colors. All the tutorials use every single color, and I want a pop of color for work. This was super helpful!
