Community Summit Education Series: Annexation, Deannexation & Incorporation Summit
Part 1 Annexation Rules
Part 2 Long term & short term affects
Part 3 Special Services District (SSD)
Inspired by the Senate and House Annexation, Deannexation, and Incorporation Study Committees, and in response to the overwhelming amount of requests wanting non-biased, non-partisan information, the Georgia HOA Alliance and Commissioner Marvin Arrington, Jr is hosting an all up discussion about Annexation, Deannexation, and Incorporation in Georgia counties and cities.
The Community Summit Educational Series is a series of special called forums for citizens and business owners to learn about pressing policies in a non-biased and non-political manner. Our communities are plagued with many things and misinformation shouldn’t be one of them.
The HOA Alliance partners with strategic groups and agencies in the community to collaborate on how to empower and engage citizens. Our citizens should be well informed with accurate information. Our summits allow for ‘Thought Leaders” to have a centralized platform that captures the attention of as many citizens as possible to share information, educate, and empower.
Our forums seek to do the following:
Rumor management, separate fact from fiction and eliminate uninformed discussions and votes
Bring community leaders, business owners and other concerned stakeholders in a place together to learn more about the laws and processes that govern
Lead the charge with solutions and remedies
Provide citizens a chance to be heard and have questions answered in an orderly manner
Provide time for community members to meet and greet each other
Encourage all to share factual information
Encourage all to work with legislatures on devising collaborative solutions
Understand the language of the HB514
We seek to educate residents and business owners on the complicated laws, rules, processes and requirements that govern annexation into an existing city, incorporation of a new municipality or remaining unincorporated. Furthermore, we want to evaluate any impacts on counties, as a primary provider of many of the services, and adjacent cities.
For this event, we have partnered with United Way VIP, South Fulton HOA Alliance, Camp Creek Business Association, South Fulton Chamber of Commerce, South Fulton Business Coalition, Home Rule News and Starbucks. Each partner will assist us in getting the word out along with seeking out refreshments for the event. As you can see with the partners, we wanted to make sure both residents and business owners are engaged. We anticipate a demand for, at least, a second event which would be scheduled, as demanded, maybe in late June in other areas of Georgia.
