Annie Hurdy Gurdy - Dune (Ambient Folk with Chalumeau)

Due to many questions about this instrument and its sound, I present the instrument called Chalumeau. The Chalumeau is the forerunner of today's clarinet, is played over a wooden reed like saxophone and clarinet and has its roots in the 17th century. Lovely sound, has this chalumeau the same sound as the Jupiter saxonett? what kind of reed are you using in this melody, Looking for this same sound but not sure which reed to get any tips in which one are you using to obtain a better sound please?

Chalumeau use clarinet reeds (which are pretty much identicals to soprano sax reeds)

It is called Chalumeau 😊

The chalumeau is the ancient form of the clarinet. The fundamental lower range of the clarinet is actually even called chalumeau.

A Saxonett is also a chalumeau but it is a modern model of the chalumeau. The saxonet has a clarinet mouthpiece and the body of a recorder. It is also called pocket-chalumeau. The instrument in the video is also a pocket-chalumeau :) The older, traditional chalumeaus are played with a double-reed which you can also find on several bagpipes :)
