It is really great to see Miss Leibovitz at work and specially the fact that, from the first seconds of the film to the last one, one can see how much photography is a matter of trying and searching and testing. in the first seconds, the set is very much studio-like, with just the blackboard as a backdrop. Light comes from the left of the picture and Mr Dufgran wears a shirt. AT the end of the shoot, we're in a workshop-like set, light comes from the right and Mr Dufgan wears a turtleneck sweater. The resulting portrait is not just more beautiful; it is also more meaningful. It's not planed, I guess. It's a matter of feeling, thinking, It's also a matter of being ultra adaptable, quick and brilliant. Thank you for the lesson!

Quite enjoying reading all of these comments calling the image unimpressive, yet forgetting that this was shot 10+ years ago by one of the greatest portrait photographers. Of course, styles are going to change and move with the times, where is the self-awareness?

Michele Her entire career is the epitome of luck and being in the right place at the right time and with the right publications. She's had some creative moments, but who hasn't? Watching her to me looks like watching an amateur compared to, say, Lindsay Adler. I'm happy for her, but I think she's a perfect education in the fact that success doesn't always correlate with skill.

longliveclassicmusic exactly my feelings she has some great photos but if you shoot 20,000 photos you are going to have a few stellar photographs in there. Her pictures all have that same dull almost Polaroid look to them. If anybody other than her posted those same photos for critique they would get shredded. Good for her that she’s made millions with mediocre photos but they are not that great.
