90% of originals are better than covers, doesn't mean that this and other artist interpretations aren't good. Is it arrangement or mood that makes it better, because Annie's voice is what carries this version and it is beautifully amazing.
@HarveyTwoFaceDent
@HarveyTwoFaceDent 4 жыл бұрын
Djinnee 17 I’d just prefer the original , I’m a big fan of the singers voice, seems to convey more emotion in the original , not saying Annie Lennox version isn’t good , just doesn’t hit me in the same way
@djinnee1792
@djinnee1792 4 жыл бұрын
Richard Doyle I understand, like I said 90% of originals are better than covers and when the original artist is the writer as well it moves up to 98%. Original writers don't have to interpret because they understand the intent behind the lyrics and what emotion should drive the song.

Hello India, honey. From what I know, Annie released this track at the same sort of time in breaking her silence over her life long struggle with deep depression & anxiety. She's one of only a handful of extremely musically talented artist to have not succumbed to her dark side. Also, legend has it, Annie is the only artist to have been approached in the early 80s to have her vocal range digitally uploaded on synthesiser, she apparently politely declined. ' Little bird' is worth checking out. Keep smiling booboo. Hugs from SW England 🏳️‍🌈🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️

"Medusa" is an album only composed by covers of songs that Annie loved during her life. You should react to "Waiting in vain" from the same album. It's a Bob Marley cover. I like the video with all the Minnie-Annies, especially at the end where they all represent the different backing vocals on the song.

For me, the way I have read the song personally, is that a relationship has come to an end ("no more I love yous") and she is on her own now, solo, no one will be there to reassure her or bolster her with their words of romantic promises, but - at the same time - she is also departing the relationship because, to do so, is to leave behind her personal demons. Something that was scared inside her before had kept her in a relationship because she thought she needed someone to give her their language of love to feel lovable, but - in leaving those monsters behind - she is now strong enough to stand without someone else's loving language to hold her up. Still, she will miss those words and the comfort they brought her even though she is entering a new phase of life where she can stand without them. It is, for me, a song about embracing independence while also acknowledging that you are nostalgic for the love that once propped you up from the outside.

Annie Lennox is probably my favorite female singer of all time. Very soulful voice. And while I enjoy many of her songs, this is one that I continue to appreciate ever greater as the years go by. It's something of an understated masterpiece. Beautiful, haunting, poignant... You are the only person I see who focuses on lyrics and meaning of the songs that you react to, which sets you apart from others. And I really enjoy how you delve into the meaning of these songs--this poetry that someone took time to channel through pain or other emotion.

This is a beautiful song. Annie is probably the best British female voice of the last 30 years. She did a wonderful duet of "Under Pressure" with David Bowie at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Plz react to Boney M singing "Rivers of Babylon" (at the Sopot Festival 1979). They are Euro-Caribbean disco legends from the 70's (and I don't use the word "legends" lightly). Thank you, MM. 😘
