One of the most eerie and memorable Sci-Fi movie I have ever seen due to it's unique scenes and soundtrack. The ending scene was particularly my favorite, beautifully directed.
I have taken "The Alien" soundtrack and added in Moderat's "The Mark (Interlude)", keeping it close to the movie as much as possible. Enjoy "The Alien" track as seen in the movie. This is the movie edit.

The transition between the two tracks is flawless. Sounds just like it does in the film! Great job.

Thanks for editing these two together the proper way. Every other time it's been done someone just puts "the mark" after or in the wrong place

I'm sure there are other soundtracks, yet this reminded me of "Girl with all the Gifts": somehow familiar but incomprehensible at the same time

None of what happened curing this whole scene (and this whole movie) never happened in the books, and in my personal opinions the books are still better, but this score, the effects, and direction give it more than enough artistry to have a valid and impressive life of its own, even if I wanted to see a more faithful adaptation more desperately.

I am reading the first book right bow, seen the movie last year and absolutely loved it. Now I'm actually happy about the order in which I got to know those two stories. And I'm happy that the movie is so different, now I get to enjoy the book with a very same feeling of eerie suspense. The book and the movie are two separate things to me, for which I'm glad, because I'm sure I'd feel a bit disappointed if I had expectations after the read... Also - THIS MUSIC!!!!1

The book is more vague if your are into that I guess, but in a lazy way imo.

Was the book weird like the movie?

@ksztaltchmur @kev7874 @ozzylepunknown551 What I mean is that (and this is not a judgement at all as much as it is just an observation, cause I absolutely love the scene shown above (it’s one of my favourites in any movie) it is different from the book. There isn’t the Tower, the writing on the wall, the Crawler, Saul the lighthouse keeper, etc. They are two distinct things and each have their own unique strengths. In terms of the first book being vague: yes that’s true, but that’s just the first book and the whole thing doesn’t really make any sense unless you read the other two books (in many ways the way the whole thing is done is sort of like a mosaic with all of the books each being pieces that come together to make the final image in a really non-linear way that fleshes out the world of the books in a very particular way) which are told from different perspectives and are much more blatant about the underlying themes of humanity becoming out of touch with the rest of nature when we can’t even define what nature is etc because they they rely on information from characters that have a different outlook on the world than the Biologist and who describe people and places much more explicitly, and result in particular mysteries being answered in unorthodox ways. Again, none of this is to say I don’t like this scene (cause I absolutely love it, both in terms of the look of the alien and the whole dance-like scene between Lena and the humanoid mimic), I’m just clarifying what I meant. Personally I think I like all three books as one single artistic piece better than the movie, but I still think the movie is very good. My reasons for not liking it as much don’t have anything to do with any difference between versions and have totally just to do with the way each of the two versions stand on their own merits for me (eg. I personally couldn’t relate much to the relationship between Lena and Kane as much as I did, say, with that between Harper and James in ‘Men’, another Alex Garland movie; I also felt several scenes in the first 30-40 minutes were just a bit too awkward and clumsy for me to like them as much as the rest of the movie; and I also felt the movie as a whole was too short for the density of information it had; these are all highly subjective though).

Sounds like a mix of an old synthesizer like an Oberheim Ob-8 plus filtering, chorusing, reverb, delay and maybe some audio reversing and splicing. Not that I know EXACTLY how it was done, but that's how I'd go about it with my own sound design experience.
