Christoph wrote the whole enigmatic smile album he’s got sole credit for 8/9 songs and half-credit for the rest if I remember correctly, same for devil may care. Then he began writing with the guys at sawdust and similar. - I say cos I “kinda” understood you meant to say this song was better than anything they released since Dave left. Tbh I am absolutely certain Chris wrote Like a Parasite about that situation (and maybe would say STFU is about those who come up with such theories haha). I base it on 2-3 German interviews he and Norbert gave after Dave left where they were asked. One interviewer joked that Rudi is said to be so nice, he must be hiding superstar habits and they said that happened to them before. In another interview Chris very courtly went around the topic when pressed and said the last few years with Dave were hard and hinted at someone thinking they became the star and acting it out. Anyways I always thought STFU and LAP right after the switch were more than mere “songs about something”. Aurora was their most diverse album it’s true - another interview Chris said he began writing in ‘19 then lost interest and Rudi joining inspired him to write again. Sounds like it was a pretty toxic atmosphere at times based on the comments they accidentally made - the interviews are all on YT. But yea - Dave was shouting at first Norbert’s lyrics (Lucid Dreamer he has lyrics credits) then Chris’ lyrics. Man I hope you speak English cos I can’t speak this much in German sorry! Haha

@ oh gotcha! Methinks honestly that Chris just went into “try everything” mode on Aurora / after Dave left - and then Norbert left too so now Chris is the only founding member which imho comes through a lot as well since. What I have seen said is they began experimenting with their sound since Arms. What also may contribute is that they had no “explosive breakthrough” - I thought the Human video will do it but don’t seem like it (GYST has 600k views still). On one hand they may have been looking for a sound that gets them a bigger breakthrough - considering how much it’s mentioned that they’re still self-financing from daytime jobs (again, they openly speak about it since Arms) - but then, same as WT they seem going into heavier again due to the topics they pick. I don’t disagree with you - I don’t like Calamity much. But Time imho is up there, perfection. And I’m a sucker for “Standing Still” on Aurora which is basically the most ballad-like song they ever released lol

I've been looking forward to this music video. I just sat with the phone on the day of the premiere and did not let it out of my hands to see it as soon as possible. Almost a month has passed since the premiere, my emotions have calmed down a little. the overall impression is awesome! It's really awesome. A couple of interesting references, a gorgeous breakdown, Christophe rapping (this allowed to speed up the pace and increase the tension) and Rudy, who played the "guardian angel" perfectly. Your whole team has done a great job here. Everything, the words, the visual part and the music, is literally permeated with anxiety, hopelessness and determination. What else can I say?
