Im Israeli and I agree with every word. Why is it so complicated for people to be against terrorism and also against the Israeli occupation? These 2 truths dont contradicte each other- living in Gaza sucks and the situation there has to change, and also- being an Israeli living in Israel is not a crime and its not going to change. The solution wont come from Netanyahu and wont come from hamas.

Disgusting really. It just shows the transformation of fascism, dressing itself up as the defenders of Judaism in order to systemically annihilate in the most brutal fashion an entire ethnic group. An ethnic group who now truly occupies the very same position the Jews did during the Nazi reign of terror. It's horrible.

Germany is a shithole when it comes to Palestine. Not even the left can take a clear stance here. While the israelian communist party and the leftist coalition take a clear stance against the occupation, german leftists cannot criticize Israel without fearing to be labeled antisemites and thus not saying anything. It is ridiculous if you see/hear this live once. Antideutsche sind keine Linken.

If any of you haven't yet I'd thoroughly recommend his 2007 book Violence in which he dedicated a chapter in the latter half to Israel/Palestine which are very relevant now and very consistent with his current statements.

It's so insane to equate a state and its actions with the people living in it, and even go beyond that, and equate it with all the jews around the world. Being Anti-Zionist, Anti-Apartheid, Anti-Colonialism is of course never been the same as being Anti-Semitic. Of course there are people that are both anti-zionist and anti-semitic, but they are in small minority. Germany is so insane and anti-analysis, it's a great insult to all great german philosophers.

It's the same with gender, I'm bisexual myself and fully support Zizek of acceptance and tolerance and affirmative action and so on, just don't turn it into a witch hunt. to be right and not tolerating the rights of others aka human rights. the political black and white/ friend and foe bias has swalloed all nuances of human and un based rights (and laws). the leviathan in its pure version is back: what counts is ones/the state's own souvereignity. pure power. no needs to be interrelated in international law or humanitarian rights. each time this ancient form of souvereignity is reclaimed and re-called and like in this war active, the whole democratic and freedom and self-determination centered internstional order is more broken and shattered. souvereignity unleashed without human rights brings nothing but destruction of all the small lights of humanity mankind tried more weak than better to developed after the WWs of the 20th Century. Either we get this or their will be a new geopolitical order which even Thomas Hobbes would not had in mind in his darkest, but always realistic conceptions of the anarchistic and wild and rogue status between those dystopically driven states.

The fact that this pretty obvious and trivial speech sparked so much controversy is illustrative of the idiocy of our times. I love Zizek, but he used to have a more sharp and uncompromising in his critique. It seems that even after he softened his grip a bit, it doesn't really play well with the neoliberal zombie mindset. Good lesson to learn. (Also a good time to re-read Marx's letter to Ruge, esp. his point about "ruthless criticism of all that exists").

In all sincerity, what exactly, to put it in the words of the speaker at the end, is to condemn about what Mr Zizek said? The man quite simply had a nuanced view especially with regards to Israels political situation. How i pity people like thr interrupter seeing things only in black and white.

he supports all those who condemn inhuman behavior in this war. And that's his absolute superpower, and why I love him so much. He shows us what really matters for that humans can live peacefully together. And thus he destroys those superficial attitudes, that will only be used to disguise anger, violence and fear.

Important to note that he also expressed rejection toward jihadist extremists and condemned the attack on Israel.

If you say he supports Palestine, you can just as well say that he supports Israel.

He didn't support any side though. You do realize he said Israel has the full right to defend itself right? It's the HOW he is concerned with

He is not supporting anyone here he is just condemning, Grape of woman and murder of children, that’s it both sides are at fault but there is a difference between shooting an r Amy with bombs and having civilians as casualty, and deliberately gutting a pregnant woman and then graping her!!!! Biiiiig fing differance

It's a saying that once fools and children speak the truth, we'll it should be said: fools, children, and philosophers! Hope he will not end up like Socrates

I've looked into the mirror. I'm not too happy with what I see. But I'm at peace with it.

Thank you g.Žižek for an attempt. It's hard to word it even harder to understand it. The hardest is to live it. Perhaps one day we will not judge all becouse of acts of some. Every human life is speciall and children are the most innocent.
