Great video. The onsite restaurants you mentioned (Italian, Mexican, Japanese)…were they included with your all inclusive wristbands?
@wanderlustwinklers Жыл бұрын
Thank You for watching! Yes they were included in the All Inclusive package. There are a few upcharge items like Lobster at the Hibachi, but otherwise everything was included.

how did you like your stay and the food here?
@wanderlustwinklers2 жыл бұрын
Our stay was great, we had a ground floor room with pool view, the rooms were nice, small, but well kept. The AC worked incredibly well, we actually had to turn it down because it was too cold, not common from our experience of other Resorts in the area. The food at their three A la Carte restaurants was very good, especially the Hibachi at the Japanese Restaurant & the Italian Restaurant. The lower level buffet & snack bars were average & on par with other AI resorts in the region we've been to. The nice thing was it's just blocks from 5th Ave. So we were able to walk & go eat lunch reasonably cheaply a few meals.

@@bassbullienation8703 Thank You! Happy New Years to you as well! I think you guys will love it, in our opinions the bang for the buck at the Reef is hard to beat & we liked it better than several places we've been to & spent atleast 50% more.

We are going in late February 2022 is the beach a nice walking beach?
@wanderlustwinklers3 жыл бұрын
Very much so, the resort sits right at a bend in the beach/ocean, so it's not easy to walk south towards the Ferry Piers & Downtown/Parque Los Fundadores because of the Cofferdams that are at the properties edge, but it can be done. Headed north there is a large flat public beach (Coco Beach) you can walk easily & the majority of the land next to The Reef is undeveloped for quite a ways so it was generally not that busy.

@@wanderlustwinklers thank you! We thought the beach would be many hotels and a lot of people! We like the quiet resorts!
@wanderlustwinklers3 жыл бұрын
@@marlenemears5407 it was very quiet when we were there, not even a lot of vendor traffic, but some (the Churro Guy had amazing Churros!). I would maybe request a room in the left hand side (North side) of the U the resort forms. There is a dance club next door on the South Side in an old House Boat, it wasn't bad, but the noise one or two nights from their music was pretty loud in our room until around 10:30/11:00PM. That is the only complaint I could come up with about the Resort, not their fault at all, otherwise we loved our stay!

@@marlenemears5407 You're Welcome! We've been to Baja California Sur a few times & love San Jose del Cabo, but haven't been on the western coast yet, but definitely have plans to when we can! We have another trip, staying at Now Emerald in the Cancun Hotel Zone, coming up in February & plan to put together a number of additional videos for it as well as probably 2-3 more videos from our stay at The Reef of 5th Ave, Chichen Itzá, etc. Enjoy your stay, it was definitely one of our favorites due to its size, location, & overall quality, especially for the budget friendliness of The Reef.

Hi there great video and great info.Can you please tell me which is the nicer Reef hotel to stay in as I see they have 3.It this reef hotel on the beach as maybe the other are further away.Can you tell me is the hotel a adult only place and looking for a more quieter place really to relax but I take it if you want to go outside for a look around you can go to 5 avenue for drinks etc.Was the all exclusive good.Thanks.
@wanderlustwinklers2 жыл бұрын
Thank You! Yes so the Reef 28 is the Adults Only located more central to 5th Ave. & from my understanding when booking there you can visit the other two via shuttle. The Reef Playacar is further south & really isn't walkable to 5th Ave. Coco Beach is in the northern part of PDC, but very close to 5th as well, we walked there every day. I would say in terms of resort quality they would rank 1st: 28 2nd: Playacar 3rd: Coco Beach. But 28 is not on the beach directly. Coco Beach has a somewhat secluded Beach, a very nice peaceful swimming area, & is easily walkable to 5th, so it sounds like it may be the best fit, however 28 is Adults Only & you could still access the other two for food, drinks, & Beach. Coco Beach when we were there was very quiet & secluded yet close enough to walk places, however it was also only at 40-50% capacity in October, I believe they are allowed up to 80% currently.

@@wanderlustwinklers thank you for the quick reply.I have seen reef 28 on KZbin but does it swing more in the way for abit young people or is ok for just adults.We are bot in our 40’s and it will be the first time to Mexico and looking for all exclusive but if I could say a more chilled relaxing hotel.Hard when there are so many.Thank you for your time and keep up the good work.

@@robbogsy3469 we ate dinner at Coco Beach with a couple in their mid 40's that stayed at the 28. They had nothing but good things to say, so I tend to think it is more catered towards folks 35+ & is more of a smaller boutique type hotel. Being in our late 30's we like more laid back places as well & if I had to choose between the three, would prefer the 28. Especially if you plan to explore the 5th Ave area & eat off the Resort some. The beaches are still accessible & with the free shuttle to the other two, would be the best of both worlds in my opinion. While having buffet & lunch food restaurants is convenient, the food is decent but not great, but the Al A Carte restaurants were very good.

Hello, we are going coco reef in 2 weeks, just got back from Dominican and the seaweed was very bad all over the beach and in sea, what was the seaweed like when you went?
@wanderlustwinklers2 жыл бұрын
When we were there (October of '21) it was very minimal, the staff typically hauled away 1 or 2 wheel barrels full each day. Seaweed season usually ends around October, so going earlier than that I would expect there to be more. The staff works very hard to keep the beach clear, but I would expect, especially in the mornings, there will be some seaweed.

Brilliant thank you for the reply, also are you allowed to go into the sister hotels and use facilities? What was the entertainment like at coco reef beach as I am going with 2 other couples aged 22
@wanderlustwinklers2 жыл бұрын
@@maxbates5580 we paid an upgrade upon arrival, if I recall around $120 for the week, & it allowed us to visit the sister resort in Playacar, although we were so busy on that trip we never did. There wasn't a lot of nighttime entertainment, but they did have shows or a band. It's a few blocks from the northern part of 5th Avenue though, which is great to walk to for entertainment day & night if you don't mind getting off the Resort.
@wanderlustwinklers2 жыл бұрын
@@maxbates5580 to add, the upgrade gave us a number of other amenities/services, a special beach bar & some privilege seating, I believe it also included wifi access resort wide, top shelf liquor, a few other things, & access to The Reef Playacar with shuttle service included. Reef 28 I believe only their guests can visit the other two, but not the other way around, it's a smaller, Adults Only, boutique type hotel located off the beach a few blocks.
