As per the future announcements, I'd suggest to copy whatever goes into Discord as a KZbin community post. I understand that creating a short video is pretty expensive for that kind of thing, but I'd not like to miss these announcements due to not being a big Discord user :)

All this has a similar vibe as to how the Tetris World Championship Scene grew, and i hope it does grow in similar fashion! Good luck with this endeavor, i will keep an eye on it. Sadly i can't make it by person, as i live overseas. I would like to be there.

My biggest piece of feedback would be to change up the way that you show the standings on the screen. I think it’s best to do -(however many seconds they are behind the leader) rather than - (however many seconds they are behind the person immediately ahead of them). This would make it easier to keep track of for casual fans at minimum. As always, AMAZZZIIINNGGGGG work flibidy! Can’t wait for Laurel!

Hi pschmidty5! Thanks for the note, yeah I have both 'gap' and 'interval' implemented in my, admittedly awful, timing tower code. I wasn't totally sure what to go with - but you're not the first to prefer interval timing! I'll switch it up - thanks!

@@flibidydibidy another thing for the leader board is to have a space for framerules, just to make it easier in some cases to just see and say "oh, he's 4 framerules behind". Ofc, it doesn't work on 8-4 and the leader board is already crammed, but I think is a good idea, maybe you can implement it!

Just want to say how incredible this has been to see from the start to where it is now. You and the whole community has done incredible work, and it's a lovely thing that's bringing people together. As for fun ideas: I think playing survival on random levels would be a great watch: If you could make a romhack that picks a random level, and then the players race to the flag. Last player to the end of the level is knocked out (or if it's a draw everyone survives), then another level is picked. There's probably some levels that should be excluded (looking at you 4-1). This way you can have the benefit of seeing a variety of levels, without the length of a warpless run, and it could be quite tense.

Thanks Rob! Always appreciate seeing your thoughts in the comments. :-) I like your idea! A big part of the 'challenge runs' is to create situations where the players have to think on their feet and do something that they haven't planned for / done 20,000+ times. And also to hopefully create compelling / clickable content. Your idea has those qualities. From a technical perspective I have been putting off purchasing a dozen powerpaks/everdrives so that I could do romhacks. But I do think that's a good idea - just a bit expensive. I will think about this idea more and try to incorporate some elements!
@robmckiernan3264 Жыл бұрын
@@flibidydibidy :). I wonder if you could homebrew the everdrives with patching the rom on a flashcart (you'd still be using the original ripped rom you grabbed, so would be still using the original software - so less dark grey legal/moral areas). I appreciate/respect your drive to keep it on original, official hardware though. Either way, is there somewhere I can donate to for the project?

Rob apologies for missing your message - the 'youtube mention' thing never works for me?! I think ROM hacks are in the future, just gotta figure out how best to navigate it! The best way to support is via youtube super thanks at the moment, or else a direct paypal donation to 'flibidydibidy@gmail.com' will go directly to the project! Thank you so much!

Maybe next time it's better to define a winner by sum of time, not by the position of each game, maybe then players will try some tricks like FPG or BBG
@flibidydibidy Жыл бұрын
Hi Anton! Thanks for the suggestion. My initial thought is that it sort of diminishes the live competition aspect because then there's not much point of them starting at the same time or anything. One thing we're going to try at this next one is a 'Live Time Attack', where the runners can reset and run as many attempts as they want within an hour or so and whoever has the fastest at the end wins. That will hopefully encourage incorporating the riskier strategies!

I have a suggestion: Spring a One-Run SMB1 surprise "random" contest on the top runners, and make them do Warp 3 + Warp 7. They won't be expected it, it'll be slightly longer than Any%, and require quick thinking, as it might be slightly disorienting!

Am somewhat near Maryland, what time do you need to compete?
@flibidydibidy Жыл бұрын
There is no minimum time is required. You will have to register for pace, join the discord and fill out the google form. There will almost certainly be a qualifying round so I would probably suggest being able to beat the game in about 5 minutes.
