I really love the idea of a game based on mars attacks. Considering that the martians are the spectators and costumers of the park, i hope to see some sort of vicious interactions, like humans been part of an experiment as in the movie

Would love to see a dive on the DOTs system management decisions 😉. I think this blog can serve multiple users-one being technical Unity users: and a great example of hardware resource management via ECS architecture. It’s easy to get up and running-but can be incredibly difficult to balance choices and their outcome on constraints. Aka everything full DOTs or hybrid etc. super excited to see how this game will 100% impact Unitys success stories and will be a “rising tide lifts all boats” sort of outcome! So thank you for opening up and talking about the process! That’s my prediction-y’all are going to make a huge impact on the Unity development community- and if you all ever need additional support on the simulation (agent based modeling) side I’d love to talk shop 😂 😎

Would you ever consider doing something for Dinosaurs Attack too in the future? I feel that it just doesn't get enough love.

I don't keep up with devlogs super often, but I've kind of just been obsessed with this concept since the Gamescom announcement! I've been hungry for a new sim/management game with this type of black humor, and this is specifically such a left-field blend of concepts and genres that I enjoy it almost feels targeted. Super excited to see y'all's progress from now to Early Access and beyond!

It’s so left field, and yet that just captures the nature of Mars Attacks. In many ways this feels a perfect way to do a Mars Attacks themed game, capturing the humour and campy horror of the series. I’m not even someone who’s had that much experience with park sims but this is one that as a fan of Mars Attacks, I must check out!

You will be able to research humans to advance your park, but they may not be too happy about being experimented on. We're building out these systems right now. How would you handle human characters in a game like this?
@Danimita92Ай бұрын
@@outliersocial That's cool! I imagined you'd have to prevent them from hatching escape plans and sabotaging your park, and maybe find ways to keep them happy/entertained so that they don't rebel
@LaikaLycanthropeАй бұрын
@@outliersocial As a Rimworld fan, and a subscriber to some pretty graphic animal rights mags back in the 80s, I would prefer not to go into detail as to how I would handle aliens f-ing over humans, beyond making the tortures as hilarious as possible.
@LaikaLycanthropeАй бұрын
@@outliersocial oh, I thought of a couple things. A super-frustrating maze the humans go nuts in (a la the classic rat experiment), also, so-called "lesser species" are great for, you know, ride safety testing. Just ask GM, they love to use pigs, for instance. A bit of digging can find you more ideas, but mind your soul when you do. A nice little work of fiction that might spur inspiration is "Doctor Rat" by William Kotzwinkle.

@@outliersocial I've read the comics so there are three things I think would be interesting. Having a food stall that sells eyeballs since the martians eat those. Even after clearing up just why you decided to make a Mars Attacks park builder it still makes 0 sense. Mars Attacks is great 60s americana that has a fanbase population of 10, with your passion for the franchise you could have really reinvigorated it with something people will actually play. I have spent my entire life waiting for people to give Mars Attacks some love and this is never going to help.
@outliersocialАй бұрын
Sorry it's not your thing. Maybe the video isn't clear - we don't own Mars Attacks. We were making a 'human zoo on Mars' game and took that concept to Topps (who own Mars Attacks) to see if we could collaborate. There's nothing stopping someone else from making a Mars Attacks game in another genre/style.
