3 years ago this might have been impressive, but after using the camera for a week, my Samsung 21 Ultra does video just as well if not better. I have it paired with a Shure MV88 mic and recorded audio just as well as hooking a condenser mic into the super tight fitting XLR jacks that are on this camera. The hardware and software change too quickly for these devices to keep up.

Looking at the xa11 or the xa 40 for recording hunts , how tough are they ? Which one is better for lowlight recording ? This. Isn’t for professional use .

The XA11 and XA40 both have the same 1/2.3" sized sensor, their performance in low light will be equal. The difference between them is the XA11 is HD while the XA40 offers UHD 4K. The XA50, which is UHD 4K, has a larger 1" sensor and will perform better in low light than both. We need to improve our camcorder. Do you prefer G60 or GX10 for KZbin? We will use it for Interviews, Reviews, Street Vlogs...

Both are great UHD 4K Camcorders with a 1" sensor. The major difference is that the GX10 has the more advanced Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus and can record 4K at up to 60fps. The G60 does not have Dual Pixel CMOS AF and only records 4K at up to 30fps. Thanks! -Joey P

The XA40 and XA50 line of camcorders are the professional versions of camcorders like the G60 and GX10. The big difference is the XA40 and XA50 have XLR connections to use high quality microphones. How about the colour sub-sampling and bit depth? What's the data rate of the codecs? Do we have Canon Log, or HLG available in these cameras? What audio quality is supported from the XLRs? Come on guys, you gave us so little actual information for anyone but a basic consumer!

With these camcorders just announced and not expected to be released until July of this year, not all of the information is available at this time. However we can tell you that they will be 4:2:0 8-Bit for internal recording and it will be 150 Mbps for UHD and 35 to 45 Mbps for HD. Thanks! -Joey P

If you want C-Log, internal 4:2:2 10 Bit recording, HLG etc. you will have to buy a very expensive XF705 or wait for the JVC GY HC550.

Stick with a professional camcorder. It offrs continuous shooting well beyound 29 minutes and will accept professional grade XLR microphones. It also is a lot more professional looking for a videographer on a shooting asignment. >Mark

I don’t get what Canon is doing here. The XA55 seems to have the same optics like the XF405. The differences are nil, it just seems the XA55 is a bit smaller and costs the same. What sense does that product line make?

Underwhelming....the Sony NX80/Z90 is still likely better. The last Canons had too soft of a picture even in 4k. If they had UHD 60P I'd be at least looking at them.
