Actually having seen a brand new 42 that lost a keel the keel is fitted with one layer of glass fibre holding them on and then the sides are sika flexed. The back section also has a layer of glass around the join point as it’s so thin and sika is not enough to hold it on. No bolts or anything holding them on. On the older leopards like mine the keels are bolted though with 5 bolts. The one thing I have not understood is how leopard don’t protect the outside of the sika flex area from UV like Catana do. The sika flex leaflet says it must be protected from us light or it will fail over time. We have just taken out our one front window and rebeded it ourselves and no more leaks.
