Tour Navigating the Guaíba, with the Cisne Branco boat.
The text below is by Rafael Carvalho, from the website: www.essemundoe... /
"The tour on the Cisne Branco Boat is one of the coolest programs we've done in Porto Alegre. This icon of the city has been navigating the Guaíba for years and has recently been completely restored. Today the structure is surprising, as I have seen in few tourist boats in Brazil .
The daily tours depart at two times from the pier in front of the Public Market in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul and last about an hour. On weekends there are also other times, including happy hour with live music. Throughout the year, there are also special events, such as sushi on board and even nightclubs.
Below we have all the details of our experience on this boat tour in Porto Alegre.
WHITE SWAN BOAT IN PORTO ALEGRE
As I said at the beginning, the Barco Cisne Branco has a very good structure. There are three floors, the first being the dance floor for club events, the second being the restaurant/bar and, finally, the third being open and offering the best view of the tour.
The conventional tour, which is daily, always leaves at 3 pm from Cais Mauá. For the 10:30 and 16:30 hours it is necessary to confirm in advance, as they only take place with at least 20 passengers. In all of them, the bar is open and sells drinks and snacks, as well as meals depending on the type of tour. The capacity is for 200 passengers and 20 crew.
We depart from Porto Alegre Pier and sail for about an hour along the Guaíba, which despite being called a river, is actually a lake. These and other explanations are provided by the sound system in Portuguese and English.
For those looking for a panoramic view, the best places to stay are on the top floor and also on the bow. The navigation is very calm and the waters were super calm on the day of our tour, it didn't shake a bit.
When the Cisne Branco boat departs, it is possible to have one of the most beautiful views of the Porto Alegre skyline and also of the Usina do Gasômetro, one of the city's postcards. Between one piece of information and another, songs that have as their theme the capital of Rio Grande do Sul are played.
We did the conventional tour, but at happy hour on weekends, which takes place at 4:30 pm, there is usually live music. The monthly schedule can be checked on the website.
This is the only tourist vessel in Rio Grande do Sul that has accessibility for people with special needs. But as there may be some difficulty in accessing the pier, it is always good to consult the company beforehand so that they can give you directions for arrival.
Navigating Guaíba aboard the Cisne Branco boat was a really cool experience, especially as the day was beautiful and it was our first time in the city. Worth it!
The boat leaves from Cais Mauá in Porto Alegre, very close to the Public Market (access via an underground walkway) and the Mercado train station. There is a discounted agreement with Garagem Mauá (Av. Mauá, 1263). The address of the pier is Av. Mauá, 1050, in Centro.
Tickets for the daily tours cost R$35* per person. Happy hour on Saturday and Sunday costs R$45*. For special events, always consult the website."
