1. The 'corridor' on the outside is more like defensive perimeter of the facility. Considering it encircles the facility and has holes along it's side, it's very likely it was built to support the defense of the facility in case of attack by acting as wall-bunker. This is supported by the facility's placement, it as built on top of the hill, making it easily defensible, as the defender would have immense field of view across the surrounding area, with the holes of the corridors being used as firing ports while still allowing the defender to shift seamlessly to other sides of the facility. Inside the structure of this corridor facility, you can also find radios (a lot of radios in fact, far more than normal), likely used to coordinate the defense 2. The one broken antenna is very interesting because next to it is a house with blown off roof. Considering the point where the antenna breaks and the direction where it leans (outward, away relative to the house), it's possible that at some point in the past, there's conflict in this facility and during that time, an explosion struck the house, and the shockwave knocks the nearby antenna to lean away from the house, although it fails to render the antenna non-operational. This might explain why the facility is far more defended than other labs, with actual Monolith presence, placement on top of the hill, bunker corridor surrounding the area... It's likely whoever built this place is defending it from something before the antennas are activated... But who? Maybe military? 3. Those 'burners' looks more like incinerator, probably for trash disposal used during times when the lab was actually still operational, and since burner anomaly tend to appear on places that has connection with heat, it's possible the anomaly remain in those incinerator, even after it's not used anymore. About the other inside the deactivation lever room, those pillars looks like heat exchanger (well, kind of) that would use water to cool down the machinery, so it's possible burner anomalies also appear there long after it's not used anymore. Fun fact, in many modded stalker games, the inside those points of interest (incinerator and heat exchanger) is straight up lava (or burning embers) instead of plain metal floor

One thing that stuck out to me is the arrangement of the facility, you got a series of hangars interrupted by large doors and a relatively barren 'reception' area, before going down to the places the machinery is, it feels a lot less space-efficient and cramped than the other labs, and the machines themselves are not large interconnected arrays but just huge tanks with a room for themselves. In a way it feels like it's been repurposed multiple times, and with the train tracks outside i'm willing to believe the installation was first meant to be simple storage.

Solid video! I always found it weird why the Brain Scorcher did not have an affect over the other side of the Red Forest and Limansk in Clear Sky. Maybe because of one of the Antennas being broken, the Brain Scorcher did not reach the full possibility of its radius. It could also be likely also that the C-Consciousness has some sort of control over the Brain Scorchers area of effectiveness and purposely removed psy emissions from those areas in hopes of luring stalkers into the area, and then turning the psy emissions back on in that area to recruit more Monolith Fighters. This is all theory however because i do recall in the Clear Sky fighters having some sort of psy protection in their suits.

The monolith soldier who drops the code to the door in the lab was a previous guard of the lab. That was their stash to use in case the facility was attacked. Little did they know that the facility itself would attack them. Also because monolithians wouldnt be great soldiers if they remembered their previous lives, their memories were wiped without a second thought. Almost wiped at least.

There's a cool theory that the damaged antenna was caused by the emission at the end of clear sky. The main reason for it is because in clear sky the psi-field covers the entire radar all the way up to the barrier. Which means the antenna was still operational at the time but following Clear Sky it got damaged by the emission. Reducing the range and making most of the area around the scorcher acessible. This forced the monolith soldiers to begin fortifying the roads with checkpoints. And in SOC we can see we're not the only ones who tried to break through as there are dead stalkers and even a team of ecologists as well as zombified ones, possibly there was a small exodus of people trying to break through but ultimately they either became zombified or got killed by the monolith soldiers.

Maybe the heat pits are part of the cooling system. Perhaps they have water-cooling drawing from the nearby river to help cool the device and the water goes to tanks that are right under those pits and so that's the heat coming off the tanks underground. Given how anomalies find homes around similar things, burners might appear near those. That would confirm that only one of those columns are active, too. This also reminds me of Yantar. That giant pipe runs into the swamp in Yantar and the whole lake dried up for some reason. Maybe that giant tunnel wasn't a sewer but just a massive water pipe to maintain the experiment at low temperatures. Rising temps cause all the burners to appear below and around it. My thoughts.

I think it's pretty obvious the concrete tube has the railway track coming from the facility inside of it - you can see the entrance in the radar area. It's just all out of scale, the tunnel is ridiculously small compared to the trains, but that's almost the rule in stalker maps.

I have my theories. 1 - The Antennas aren't a ring or a bubble, but rather a "line" of a bigger network. Remember - there is multiple psi-emitters in the Zone, might they be small like in CoP, or big like the Brain Scorcher. Original builds also mentioned the Generators, that have been moved to the CNPP in SoC. So, there is a second antenna which make sense in the CNPP where the heart of the noosphere rift is, but this one might be for "casting" the excess of power and send signal to the other factories from the WarLab of Monolith (Plus, the C-Con in SOC seems to be right under the generators in the CNPP) Like the Dûga Radar that we see in the trailers of Stalker 2. As the rift formed above the CNPP on the first blowout, the group faced being overwhelmed with psi-energy, so, to counter this effect, they activated various antennas through the zone, used both as a recruiting and deception tactic to impede Stalker from going to the center, but also as a way to regulate and control the Noosphere, Monolith, and emissions. This is backed up by the fact that "Radar" and X19 where inspired directly with the Dûga Radar, would make sense that they have the same purpose, and furthermore, it would explain the tilted towers and fighting traces around the facility, and the heavy presence of Monolith. This network across the Zone would also be backed up by the fact that we only know the southernmost parts of it, and it is clearly mentioned in the game that other places exists, as the Zone il a circle AROUND the CNPP, and not only pointing to the south, and also that more antennas exists as said by the C-CON herself. 2 - X19 is WAY bigger than what we see, as the other labs. S.T.A.L.K.E.R being a game of his time and also severely amputated of much content, it would make sense that X19 was an enormous complex. The installation is heavily guarded in a part of the Red Forest that no one knew before, hence the absence of name for this factory. The bunker in line would have made the link between the part of X19 that we see on the old builds entrance (that must have been the mutant labs), and the main part where the emitters are. It would explain the heavy presence of mutants and number of closed doors, military equipement, skeletons, and anomalies all around the complex. Why would there be a lot of corpses if the entire zone is unbreachable without becoming a Zombie? Simple. It was the previous teams that worked here and prolly military presence being wiped after the first emission. All others stalkers coming after the start of the Brain Scorcher have been either zombified or integrated into Monolith Ranks. It would again explain the heavy presence of Monolith. If they tend to leave the Zone and it's inhabitants in peace, they can't afford a massive mutant presence around their so-much-loved Brain Scorcher. We can also see in other labs that they are way bigger than what we see (X-18 having a central elevator, X-8 being an horrible maze full of closed doors, X-16 having a whole installation right above where you can visit a hangar and two rooms, which is a shame) so it would make sense.

Now I want to ask a question, why in most mods that take place after Call of Pripyat the brain scorcher has been turned back on? Aside from gating the player from moving further north, I mean I highly doubt that the monolith just walked back into facility and just switched it back on, (well I guess that’s probably what happened). The Facility is very rundown and abandoned so I figured when strelok deactivated the radar, the entire facility is rendered completely inoperable as I thought the switch was a kill switch that instantly shut down the radar and if you know anything about suddenly shutting things down when they’re still operating you know it’s not going to end well. Well there was my rant about the antennas. Oh and as a side-note I think the radar in Limansk is prototype of the Duga radar that we will be seeing in stalker 2
@anomalousdugout9557
@anomalousdugout9557 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think the mods explain it like you said: Monolith took control over the antennas again and turned it back on. I believe modders do that because they have no idea what else to do with the location: the Radar area was clearly designed to be assaulted by the player while being defended by the Monolith, and storywise we don't know what happens to the place after SoC. Besides, disabling the Brain Scorcher is such an iconic moment from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. that modders probably want to have their own take on the mission. However, it becomes quite borring for the players to always have to do the same thing when coming to the Radar, and it would be good if some mod innovated for once and had a completely new approach to this location. For exemple, it could now be a military/scientific base deep inside the Zone, the Mercenaries could try to capture the antennas, etc...

My thoughts on this: First off, when the surface complex was constructed. Honestly, with Soviet-style brutalist architecture, it's hard to say exactly when the surface compound was built (the Soviet Union utilized a similar style of architecture for municipal structures from the 1920s until their collapse, and it remained in use in the Russian Federation and other successor states well into the current millenium), but if I had to hazard a guess it looks very Brezhnev Era, so it's possible that part of the complex may have been built as early as the late 1960s, and may have originally served another purpose, perhaps as a logistics depot (it has rail lines), something related to the Duga radar (the original name of this map is "Radar") or the Volkhov AA system near the Jupiter factory, or as part of a communications system. After all, the C-Consciousness rep said that the fact that "there were many powerful antennae" was one reason why the Zone was chosen as the testing ground for their experiments (the other being its isolation). Therefore, I think that the X-19 complex was once used for an unrelated, likely military purpose, and was reconfigured into a Kaymanov emitter array sometime after 1989, with the conversion only being finished sometime between the second half of 2006 and the middle of 2011 (when the Monolith faction canonically formed, if what the Barkeep in SoC says about their origins is correct). The alternate door is interesting, since in those same early builds, the entrance that would be used in the final game was actually the entrance to the Monolith Control Center. It's possible that this leads to another section of the X-19 complex, one that was responsible for advanced experiments with psy emissions (effectively more focused versions of the experiments begun in X-8, X-16, and X-18, likely related to fine-tuning the design of Kaymanov Emitters for more subtle forms of brainwashing than outright zombification, which would be required to create the Monolith faction), while the rest of the complex was converted into the control center for the Rainbow Emitter. Maybe in keeping to the ties to the Monolith Control Center, it might've been where designs for the Wish Granter, the final line of defense for the C-Consciousness, were developed and prototyped. As for the damaged antenna, I mentioned on another video, which was touched upon in the one on X-16 as well, that Kaymanov emitters generate a lot of heat (and indeed, if you look down into the shafts in the control room for the emitters, you can see a haze from the sheer amount of heat the machinery generates. I also see that you included my theory that, one time, the machinery overheated, warping the antenna and taking it offline. This might have also had an impact on the coverage of the emitter and could explain why places like Limansk aren't within its area of influence by the events of Clear Sky. Furthermore, it would explain Strelok's assertion that the output of the emitters would vary, as they would occasionally have to be operated at a reduced state to cool them off, or even briefly shut down entirely to perform basic maintenance on the still-functional emitters. The dilapidated state of the interior probably doesn't have to do with mutants, I think, since Monolith could very easily clear out a couple of bloodsuckers. I think that, in keeping with the theory about interiors amplifying psy emissions, perhaps the emissions inside X-19 are so powerful, even Monolithians can't stay inside for long without suffering permanent brain damage or even dying. It could also be that the nature of the Monolith's brainwashing removes almost anything not directly related to survival and combat skills, plus the necessary fanatical loyalty to their cause, and so even if they did manage to recruit technicians that could maintain the machinery, their skills are lost in the brainwashing process. It's likely that members of the Group themselves had to maintain the machinery, but due to a combination of needing to replace members of the C-Consciousness that died, as well as simple attrition from anomalies, mutants, and psy exposure, everybody that could perform more than even basic maintenance is either dead, joined Clear Sky (and then either died or became part of Monolith), or got plugged into the C-Consciousness to keep it running. As for those tanks, I think I agree with your third theory. It's likely that they once contained coolant as part of the primary cooling system, but that due to disruptions to the logistics chain caused by anomalies, emissions, systems breaking down, and the own powerful emissions of the emitters, once these were depleted or the pumps failed, the cooling loop, likely based on those used in pressurized water reactors (typically seen on nuclear-powered warships, but also used in land-based power plants at times - the reactors at Fukushima Daiichi were PWRs), failed. This coolant might've allowed the Rainbow Emitter to function at full strength indefinitely for some time, but a loss of coolant or failure of the pumps (possibly resulting in the damaged emitter) necessitated the "phased" operation seen now, with it only being able to operate at full strength until the heat builds up to a certain point, then its output has to be lowered to the point where a backup system, possibly using air circulation (and which might explain those air ducts with burners in them), can cool the emitters until they reach a safe level again.

It could also be that the machines in X-19 are old and abandoned. It may be that the Brain Scorcher draws it's power from the other inaccessible lab, which is why the 2 are connected. Either the Brain Sorcher worked like this from the start, or the Monolith worked together with the C-Conciousness to make the machinery in the inaccessible lab serve as the replacement. Maybe the original X-19 machinery was destroyed since it's wide open to anyone, or possibly everything was moved due to secret intel that the military will attack the base, which they would find completely empty of working componements. What if the BS is powered by psi-artifacts? Maybe that's why X-18 was dumped and X-16 too, that would explain the use of other unknown chemicals and the more stability of the field compared to the miracle machine, if i am not wrong the C-C uses artifacts on their generators emitters in the CNPP, but thing is artifacts cannot control the zombies but only melt their brains, i find a very very huge difference from Yantar's zombies and the Radar's brain scorcher, the zombies from the miracle machine always targeted people outside their field such as the scientist bunker, while the ones in the brain scorcher are more likely stationary doing completely nothing except for moving around until they find someone hostile. That would give a huge explanation to the Wish Granter and other psi-artifacts, but well i do hope that Duga psi-emitter will give us answers.
@anomalousdugout9557
@anomalousdugout9557 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that could very well be possible. We don't really know for sure if the C-Consciousness is able to use artifacts for powering machines, but I assume that it does, at least to a certain extent. I am planning to make a entire video on the "power" issue for the labs after I covered them all. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts, very interesting!

Ok so this is pure conjecture, but here's my theory on the empty pressure gauges all over the lab, and the broken machinery. Basically I'm thinking the brain scorcher we see in SoC is operating at its most base function. Since the ending of clear sky shows a bunch of people in the CNPP being brainwashed, I think that's where stalkers are taken to become monolith soldiers. Anyone who gets hit by the scorcher, just like the lab X16 emitter, either dies or becomes a zombie (or snork maybe). I think the scorcher would be much much more capable and effective, but since one of its antennae is broken, along with all or a lot of the support machinery being fucked, the version we see is kind of jury rigged to work as a barrier, and isn't functioning at anywhere near full capacity, and also its emissions aren't being actively controlled and fine tuned, since the scientists are dead/ gone/ become part of c consciousness. With such a state, the monolith members under c consciousness control would just about be able to get it working to do what it does, then keep it working that way since they don't have the skill and or resources to fully use it, nor do they really need to for their purpose of keeping stalkers away, since it does the job pretty well, adn mutants and monolith can clean up the rest, and c consciousness has bigger fish to fry. Though if this is the case, I'm honestly terrified to think what a fully operational scorcher could do. Possibly just kill the unprotected, possibly more range or turn people to monolith soon as they enter. Though more in would be things like cause hallucinations and or amnesia, or full ass mind control, either very direct as with monolith, or subtle like strelok, where the subject perceives the instructions as their own ideas. I know i got off topic, but yeah, some brain scorcher theories.

I wonder how the lab layout would match with the map of the radar, since the lab is quite large, with long corridors. Perhaps some of the unused doors on the outside and the inside would match, but were specifically cut so that you'd have to fight the monolith after deactivating the scorcher.

I wondered the same thing, but it's quite hard to find out without using the map editor, which I'm unfortunately unable to do.

Maybe all that rusty machinery inside the lab isnt related to the brain scorcher, and the scorcher is just a defense mechanism to protect the lab to whatever was being studied inside there

I really thought you'd talk more about the grounds around the entrance to X-19. There's a small train station, what looks to be a large empty pool or retention pond and several buildings all clustered into that compound. Also, does ANYONE know what that long raised corridor is for!?
@anomalousdugout9557
@anomalousdugout9557 3 жыл бұрын
I mean, the series is called "secret underground areas" so I focused more about the lab, but it is true that the surface compound is interesting. I wish we would be able to visit it in more details.

It's not X-19, this it X-10. And X-19 is Monolith Bunker. Thus it described in game files. But in English version indeed, Scоrcher lab named "X-19" in texts - due to inaccuracy while translation.

11:45 That's really strange. It looks like such important detail, but it also can be simple mistake. Development of SoC was a mess, but even still... I don't know, i do not believe it's a mistake.
@anomalousdugout9557
@anomalousdugout9557 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's true. I also don't think it's a mistake, and this idea is backed up by the fact that the machines look rusty, some cables are disconnected, and the factory is surprisingly silent.

@anomalousdugout9557
@anomalousdugout9557 2 жыл бұрын
