Alas, it will be added only in DLC as "Cold Island" - as another 2 DLC, "Mystery of Limansk" (left of the map) and "Sand plateau" (top of the map)

I really love the little writings and notes on the map: "worse that the military!', 'fraudsters!', 'don't sleep here'. Really gives the map that feel of life and being some STALKER's crude map

I dont think the swamps are necessarily in the wrong area. It could just be that the swamps are actually larger area rather than what was portrayed in clear sky. Maybe this time the playable area is differend? The swamp area in clear sky might be uninhabitable after a decade, or otherwise lost its relevance to the locals. The emissions cleared paths that made the swamps more open in clear sky, so maybe the later emission at the end of the game made those parts of the swamp unaccesible? Who knows, all im saying it propably not too badly retconned from original games.

Hmm, imagine youre in the Great Swamp chilling with your Clear Sky buddies, then a huge emission hits, maybe the largest you've ever felt. Afterwards, you walk outside to find the whole swamp has somehow moved to the East side of the Cordon. And now there's a huge tanker ship just to the north.

@@cralo2569 Nobody really knows how the terrain shifting in the zone works, scientists may have guesses but without being present for it, how would they be able to discover what happened? Is it possible that the first three generations of Stalkers were using inaccurate maps & coordinates...

I really think it'll either be integral to the plot, (the whole zone seems to be affected, even Limansk and Agroprom seem to be missing) or it'll be a sidenote. Like, it is fully possible that this 'retcon' means the older game's maps aren't canon.

I am pretty sure the ship in the Great Swamps is indeed the Skadovsk, since it corresponds to the real life location of the ship (51.2846 N 30.2129 E), and that area overall was the main inspiration for Zaton (except for the port cranes which are in fact northeast of Prypiat). Personally, I wouldn't mind such a retcon, even though it is a pretty big contradiction to CoP, the overall plot of the game still kinda works. Another thing I want to point out is that the Krug antenna complex, which also used to be in Zaton, in real life is part of the Duga complex (51.2952 N 30.0459 E, a kilometer away from the main array). If you rotate the Duga the same way it seems to be oriented on this map and in the trailers, then the Krug would be exactly where the circle at 21:18 is. And what's the translation of the word "Krug"? Circle. CoP in general was a mess in terms of geography (with east Prypiat being the only relatively accurate part), so I believe we will see more sublocations from Zaton and Jupiter scattered around the map to be closer to their real life counterparts. Like Kopachi or the Volkhov AA complex, which also are nowhere near Yaniv in real life

I'm super hyped for these changes. I am a lover of the original trilogy but I have to say, I much prefer the map being as close as possible to the real-life region (with the zone's fuckery & soviet-era sci-fi stuffed in, of course!). I loved COP's map but I always felt that Zaton was a strange map. It felt like a huge square with little on the inner parts and most of the landmarks being on the farthest parts.

East of Pripyat is quite accurate. It feels odd nowdays, but back when game was made, that part of the city was indeed not as forested since city was still maintained until earliy 00s. Game takes place chronologically when there would be already a young forest, but I guess it was hard to predict it would take so little time to be overgrown.

@@pavuk357 I agree, and I feel that even if they wanted to make it forested, the game wouldn't perform very well on PCs of that time By "relatively" I was referring to the fact that they did make a couple changes to the layout, most notably moving the Yuvileiny Service Center, removing another building, and I think the shop where you meet a controller was taken from another district. Everything else on the map is really accurate. Changes like that are completely justified because the actual layout of the city might be a bit too big and repetitive for a video game location, and a lot of games do the same thing and shrink real cities down while keeping the landmarks intact

I feel like the reason why Limansk is labelled as a false path is because when Clear Sky besieged the city they destroyed the tunnel which led to the settlement, effectively cutting off the city from the rest of the Zone. Another theory I have is that maybe the abandoned hospital collapsed in on itself rendering that path towards the CNPP again useless.

I think it could be where Operation Zenith went awry, but who knows. I get the feeling there's gonna be a lot of story & side character stuff to give us a lot to chew on, so it could be in reference to any event in-game that we're unaware of yet.

It would be interesting if the map was really just a stalker's understanding of their surroundings and therefore it is not accurate. We've been through a theory that there are different types of PDAs and even Strelok's PDA was an upgraded version. So it is possible that whoever made this map did not have a map on their PDA, forcing them to draw it out. Which might explain how the Great Swamps are in the east instead of the west like how they were originally in Clear Sky. And the boat can be a mistake by the Stalker, mistaking Zaton to be the Great Swamps hence the boat icon. Also explaining the flame icon, as there is the burnt village and thermal anomalies in the north from Skadovsk. This Stalker has been to the Zone a lot but hasn't accurately figured out his surroundings. This is my own thoughts on the matter as it would make the Stalkers more realisticlly human. We can make this sort of mistake, I know I would if I were to map my surroundings as a rookie if my PDA did not have a sattelite-view map. I'd mistake the south west of the garbage as the truck cemetery if I saw it for the first time cuz... They do kinda look the same except for the size. Edit: pls do cover the ARG, I didn't even knew it was a thing I'm late on the news.

I think that fish symbol in waters near CNPP is some kind of mutant catfish. They are present in real life Zona and many people told that they were mutated and are bigger than regular catfishes from the same species in other ponds and rivers.

Despite the fact, that all STALKER fans knows the OG maps by their hearts, to the point where one can navigate without ever looking on PDA, we all must remember this: they ware just an improvised collage of places, glued together into the game levels, and those levels ware never one coherent, consistent world map. They ware only an artistic creation, with heavy use of real world references. And today many of those places don't even exist anymore... Prypiat ferris wheel, vehicle graveyard... Old village buildings collapsed, metal structures and vehicles ware scrapped... as the radiation decays to the natural background levels, more and more relics of 1986 "Dyatlov's fart" will be cleaned up.

True, level layout was to make sure it made sense to the gameplay loop in an engine that could not make a giant, single world area. It would also be assumed many areas would have developed a lot differently in Stalkers timeline than ours, obviously theres quite a bit of tourism in the less irradiated areas of the zone, and technically the reactors are still worked at as per decommissioning (at least until the war broke out) at the CNPP, rather than being dormant and being the base of a secret organization :P So having a lot more differences makes sense

People must be constantly remembered, that 15 or so years of games and hardware development is absolutely no joke. "Copy/paste" of old levels into the new map would feel and look just like, as we say in Poland, "taken out of arse".

It might be that some PDA don't have a map built in them so you would have to draw it yourself. This would be very fun feature in game if you had to draw your own map. As for the size i wouldn't take this hand-drawn map for being true to size. I think that maybe the things that are bigger were the places that he knew more about or spent more time in them. That would explain the garbage being so big, because it's a place where many stalkers stay for a long time and the center may be drawn big because he thinks and believes there is more to find/explore

In the old stalker originally to the right of cordon and south of dark valley there used to be a map featuring a canyon that the player would drive through whilst being chased by a helicopter. At some point it got cut, though you can see it restored in the mod Lost Alpha, where it is called 'Darkscape'. And in that map it indeed bordered a swamp or river (you drive past the shoreline at some point). In fact many of these locations are reminiscent of the layout in lost alpha. Though at this time all these maps blend together in my mind...

Stalker was also pseudo open world, CoP was the most open but still. So I dont have a problem with the map change, they had to sow up all the sections into a seamless map. Couldn't imagine how much work that had to be.

Great analysis and good theories. I assume the map rearrangement will screw up the lore a bit, although consistency has never been its strong side anyway. The map of the cancelled 2011 sequel was also supposed to depict a completely reworked Zone, so this is not something new. The very existence of this map is interesting, as it suggests that some stalkers create them themselves, even though access to a PDA - and therefore a satellite map - was rather common among stalkers in the trilogy. It would be great to see a breakdown of the ARG, it contains some interesting information and references.

Strange how not a single X-lab is located on the map. That means that even after a decade or so, those laboratories remain a mystery or just a legend for average STALKERs. The absence of Dark Valley is also strange, it should be between the river and Cordon. Given it was controlled by at least 2 groups during the trilogy and was never really absent of life, it's strange it's not even mentioned. Also the "Industrial Area" could be Agroprom. The "Concrete" part actually represents the elevated building of the Cement factory near Jupiter pretty well, however it's at an entirely different location. Maybe that's also part of the "Scattered CoP maps" thepry though. Can't really add much else to it I think. Excellent video as always. Many good guesses I couldn't really come up with (like the Waste processing station or the big spinning device). I hope they won't lock too many memorable parts behind DLC expansions.

Maybe a teleporter anomaly spawned on top of the Skadovsk and relocated it into the swamp. You could even explain the map inconsistency in the context of this game. A huge zone-sized anomaly molding and morphing the entire area in random ways, manifesting through an event similar to a blowout but happening a few years apart instead of days like emissions and psy-storms, in an instant, just like flipping a switch. No severe symptoms, no quake, just an auditory build-up followed by all life-form in the zone experiencing a brain fart and getting relocated along with the ground. Suddenly, every master and veteran of the zone is just a heavily-trained/geared-up "rookie", as old locations no longer reside where they used to and new areas/anomalies unfamiliar to anyone have appeared through-out the zone. There you have it: the map change injected into the game's lore. Easy money.

My first theory is that creator of the map(Vova) brought this map to stalker called Misha, where Misha marked some locations with green dots and told Vova what they meant face to face. After some time, Vova sent this map to another stalker who improved map by marking locations and writing some additional text on it as a guide to Vova, and in meantime writing that Misha is crazy for marking those spots with green (only those 3 stalkers know what these green spots mean) My second theory is that map was found on dead stalker(which explains blood on map). Map was brought to stalker who marked important locations using red and green pen as guide to stalker. Can't explain 'Misha has gone crazy' text in this one Making these theories just for fun, they are unlikely to be true

Fun theories though, I sort of thought that the map might belong to Richter, and is a gift to Skif. Misha is the original owner of the map but I think Richter took it after he died and used it, then gave it to Skif when he entered the zone. But who knows, we haven't seen enough ingame footage yet to know how the ingame hud will look. I wonder if we'll have a PDA or if we'll be using an actual paper map like what's been depicted.

Hey Anomalous Dugout! I think the number one is for where the first DLC / Expansion will be. And I think the symbol in the furthest north area where it's the "centre" is actually the number two, signalling the second DLC/ Expansion site. It could make sense BC the main campaign might get us to the centre of the zone and then leave us on a cliffhanger until the expansions

My belief is rhat the location at 11:05 is the SIRCAA research institute thst is talked about being inside the Zone in the Into the Zone trailer. You can also see it faintly in the background of the original gameplay trailer with the Stranger and in at least one version of the game logo with rhe trefoil. It looks pretty high tech so it seems it would have to be new.

Maybe that drawing at 9:15 is some anomaly that launches things in the air? Also knowing the zone there will be some sort of psy anomaly near the partisans three.

Thank you for your dedication to make long videos and research everything from the games to not lose anything! It would be awesome if you upload a recap video of the lore, events, factions, locations of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe a day before the release to prepare us (or teach us) the important things we should know before diving into the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2! S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is my most anticipated game 3 years now as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl is my favorite game of all time but I have learn a lot from you but still I need a recap of the Monolith/Noosphere (all this brainwashing and where is taking place) because they are the most complicated lore of the game and they will be important in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. I have pre-order the PC Limited Edition a year ago, so I will have the map and thanks to you I will be able to easily identify the locations marked upon it. (I am a little dissapointed as the map is a sketch, I liked mored it's old version but as you said maybe is incomplete and I hope it will be more like a real map when it releases.)

If we look at this map, i think we can say that the not paradise trailer was in Garbage :D just look at the landmarks...if Skif was standing on the crane with the CNPP in fron of him, to the left side there was the Red Forest and Prypiat, to the right side the unfinished reactor building market "concrete" on this map :D It hope the ingame map will look something like this...like Skif finds the map of the zone somewhere, full of question marks, and as he progresses on, he draws landmarks and symbols to the map. Like you visit a new location, you get the notification that the map was updated, hear the sound of drawing (like in metro) and then you see the new updates on the map :D

The map was likely edited by more than one person! My theory is that Misha was the first, then came the one who wrote the Misha gone crazy phrase? It is possible that the first hand died before finishing the map (or worse), and someone took it and kept editing it along the way? That kinda explains the missing locations on the map and the "???" Areas, perhaps even suggests that the second hand was not that experienced and relied too much on what other stalkers told him!

8:54 If this is the observation tower, the green dots all over the map are probably places where the map maker has found artefacts, because in one of the trailers, the person behind the camera finds an artefact right next to the tower. EDIT: after looking at the whole map and hearing your input, I think Zaton is certainly still existing in its influence, but it's moreso that parts of it are strewn across the entire zone, like the cranes in the west and the beached boats in the east in the Great Swamps. Gone, but certainly not forgotten, if this is the case, I'm happy with this implementation!

25:00 This elevated area with the helicopter crash reminds me of the Call of Pripyat where you had to approach it through a teleport (that explains the ? mark near it, as there wasn't a road or a clear way to approach it.) I don't know if the location is correct but I think it may be this area.

would be crazy if the great swamps being on the east was actually a anomaly after a emission that made some stalkers confused, like the mandela effect, and you would have a bunch of stalkers debating if it was always on the east or not

At 5:36 I believe that would be one of those barrage balloons like from ww2. I think they were used for light when they were cleaning up after the power plant disaster.

Jupiter Underground connects to the various X-Labs doesn't it? Also doesn't it connect to the tunnel by the bridge to Limansk in Red Forest? There's no reason to suspect that moving locations require retcons. Call of Pripyat plays with the idea of a looped location due to an anomaly. This also ties in quite well with Tarkovsky's film where navigation is more about the navigator's state of mind and soul than geography. A backup facility may not be required if the way of the zone is self-sustaining within the noosphere. Kinda like the plot of Terminator 3 where there is no central control, it's everywhere. Brown Pen seems to be quite cautious and clearly not a member of the military or a bandit.

I'd like to see the monolith spreading out a little bit, and seeing some of them going into hiding similar to the Enclave from the Fallout Series. Instead of every single faction being out there in the open, it would be fascinating to see a faction being a bit more illusive and in the shadows

Maybe that setting/rising sun at 23:25 depicts an area where the actual Monolith soldiers reside? Their faction patch does have half a sun on it, so I think it's a cool speculation

Still can't belief this game is real and almost upon us. I played the first 3 games a lot back in the day, and by that I mean really a lot. I do hope we will get a ps5 version down the road because this game looks awesome. Don't have a xbox or gaming pc so I'll have to wait I'm afraid. Glad I found your channel

I think the Question Mark areas could possibly be DLC locations or something, maybe unlocked by an emission or some device you get once those dlcs come out.

Since certain features are to scale one could in theory use trigonometry to figure out the distances from the trailer scenes. Also it could be that the map was drawn from a vantage point and later taken to the field by different stalkers hence the different pen colors and lack of density in some places.

My takes: - Zaton is still there, but it might be uninhabitable/changed due to the changes in the Zone, it can be an unsafe area - The ship on the swamps may be a new home for the Beard, new Skadovsk sort of:) - The "Concrete" is a concrete making plant irl, and below it should be the city of Chernobyl (the area with a lighting bolt, and strange markings)

i think the "false path (or they lie)" is blanked because of the space anomalies surrounding it, so if someone is searching limansk they might not find it so easily because they were walking in circles not noticing they were in circles or even if they noticed it would be difficult and so they might just give up looking for it. note: i have a low percentage of knowledge of STALKER games so pls correct me if am wrong or something else

i would assume zaton is still where it is but this stalker did not venture there, so didn't put it on the map. It's possible that boat in the Great Swamps might be a functional one, a ferry to get across to another part of the area more safely, or maybe a transition to an area up north of a river. Maybe connected to the snow area?

Regarding Zaton area - what's interesting is that Zaton itself is an amalgamation of three similar areas - port area of Pripyat (now separated from Pripyat River), a smaller swampland and lake to the north of 5th Microrayon of the city and finally Chornobyl river yard where rusted barges are located in the real life - which is place FAR to the south of CNPP and has facility in the peninsula part. Though there is no massive bridge IRL, ofc. Closest thing is railway bridge through Pripyat River located not too far off the Power Plant. So areas in game were more of artistic representation of real location, rather than clear depictions of them - I mean, in Shadow of Chernobyl CNPP was located to the north of Pripyat, which was just wrong but made more dramatic design. Still, it's interesting if they will definitely remake entire Zone to something of amalgamation of real life and whatever they decided it to be.
